To be fed up of Instamums

Hmmmmx100 · 25/08/2017 22:56

I followed a few of the more well-known Instamums but got weary of the constant daily barrage of brand endorsements. I can't relate to people on £100k a year in Farrow & Ball houses. I just can't. So I had to unfollow em all, every one. AIBU to feel a bit miffed that these people are using the idea of sisterhood to make money? They're not our friends, they're just there to sell us stuff that we probably don't need anyway.

Arrogant and smug? his very recent posts and stories are the epitome of them both.

DillyDilly · 01/09/2017 22:03

Blackhills, you seem overly invested in your need to defend FOD!

Well done to him on his new career as a 'social influencer'. I would imagine though that he'll have a limited time-frame with this. Over exposure and all the rest. Endorsing so many products, a lot credibility will soon be gone.

MainFlamingo · 01/09/2017 22:04

I find that there's always an air of smugness and superiority from instamums that have loads of children. They seem to think that they're better parents than others because they have 'lots of babies'. One instamum has 8 children and is one of the most smug people I've ever come across. Her husband is on Instagram now too and joins in with the smug-fest!

wannabestressfree · 01/09/2017 22:13

Sadly Main I think I know who you are talking about #blessed

MainFlamingo · 01/09/2017 22:16

Yep that sounds like her!

MakeItStopNeville · 01/09/2017 22:35

I hate this over invested shit. Yabbering on on here about Instagrammers you love to hate is exactly the same as yabbering on on here about CBB or -insert reality tv show here- or wanting to throw your glass at the tv every time Danny Dyer comes on screen in Eastenders. It's puerile nonsense that fills the nanoseconds we have where we're not doing something else.

All are welcome to equally slag off my Instagram account, but I fear me and my 122 followers aka my mates won't really care! Grin

Hmmmmx100 · 01/09/2017 22:39

I have 123 friends. Ha. I win.

I've followed the mum of 12, for a very long time.
She seems a genuinely amazing mum who is doing her absolute best in hard times, like many other parents.
She has never claimed to use food banks that I have seen, she's mentioned something about them (can't fully remember what) but not that she had been to one.

She also runs a blog (along with her daughter) and MANY people asked them to add a donate button, it isn't out of greed, or entitlement or anything else.

I agree it is cringing when people blatantly ask for freebies, I followed one who actually tagged a Hoover manufacturer in a post saying how she needed one but 'wasn't famous enough' for a freebie. She got one delivered this week Hmm

MakeItStopNeville · 01/09/2017 22:55

Hmmm Grin

NaughtyNannyPlum · 01/09/2017 22:57

Could someone pm me please with the name of 8 children instamum

MrsPaddywack · 01/09/2017 22:59

I really like Susie Verill at the minute (partner of the gorgeous Greg Rutherford! Also Sally Fazelli. Think they are both a breath of fresh air! I also enjoy MoD and FoD posts and Mother Pukka. Good luck to them all, I'm sure plenty of us would do exactly what they are doing given the chance! Who wouldn't want to supplement there income?

NaughtyNannyPlum · 01/09/2017 23:00

Sorry meant 12 children! I need new people to be nosey with to follow

MakeItStopNeville · 01/09/2017 23:04

I'm liking Doesmybumlook40 thanks to this thread. Especially one of her stories where two teenage girls looked on with horror behind her. That really made me chuckle.

Lollypop27 · 01/09/2017 23:21

Feathering the empty nest just seems like a genuinely nice person in my opinion. I wouldn't wish what she had been through on my worst enemy. The freebies are to help kit out parent rooms in the hospital. They are also for raffles where she has raised over £35000 for the SCBU. There are so many who are selling their souls but I don't think she's one of them.

FunkinEll · 02/09/2017 00:44

I love DMBL40 on instagram. I was never sure in the blog days but she's really likeable. A friend of mine knows her through her job and some of the others mentioned and says she's a really, really nice woman and thinks highly of her.

Fluffypinkpyjamas · 02/09/2017 01:10

I also really need would like to know who the mum of 12 CF is please someone...
here is a cute photo to say thank you in advance Grin

No mention of a mother who the ... of all adventures?

Boredboredboredboredbored · 02/09/2017 06:13

The one with 12 children has...... to many children........I think so many people follow her as they are in awe of just having that many kids and all of that liberty print everywhere. I think the Saltwaters are passed down again and again and again x 12. I did read that they had had to use food banks so presume the husband had left.

I think I spend wayaaay too much time on IG Hmm

eekmumps · 02/09/2017 08:08

Hmmm lost a bit of respect for one I quite liked which is a shame. She's just had a baby and they did a couple of instastories when she was in labour and have showed a couple of pictures of the baby since its been born but are not saying what the sex is. It's a clear ploy to get more views for their YouTube video. Anyone questioning this is met with how they "just want to spend time as a family off social media". Fine if you were indeed staying off social media but you're not, you've instagrammed your birth and the new baby.

Anyhoo, a Instagram post was put up introducing the baby, weight etc. Very obvious leaving out of the sex. But some wily (slightly stalkerish!!) people discovered that she had put the same announcement on her private Facebook but included the sex. Clearly baby brain is real and she forgotten to make her settings private. That has now been quickly hidden (not before many people got a screenshot!) Any congrats on her baby and stating the gender are now being hastily deleted and people getting blocked (genuine people that are excited and happy for them, people who have supported them for years, who have bought their merchandise) all because they're clearly worried that the early reveal will take away viewers from their much anticipated first YouTube vid since the birth. They want more views so they get more #ad opportunities etc and clearly that means more to them than individuals who love and support them. That's such a shame to use the birth of their baby in this way! If this wasn't the case then the announcement would have been exactly the same as her private one. I just cannot comprehend this way of thinking, I really can't... I get making money from social media, I really do. Being able to have a lifestyle where you're at home with your children is wonderful and making all of those memories. But manipulating things in this way is just another level.

WipsGlitter · 02/09/2017 08:19

Wow eek that's hardcore social influencing.

Are the you tube videos popular? The only you tube watched in this house is DanTDM (prat) and prankster videos by DS1 Hmm

ElspethFlashman · 02/09/2017 08:50

That's pretty excessive.

SVs son Milo possibly wins "child I would most like to have". He is simply precious with his furrowed little brow and seems to say "I love you Mummy" "I love my bruvver" constantly. He's just LOVELY.

(......Glares at maddeningly unaffectionate male child.......)

Numptybirdy · 02/09/2017 09:21

Another snippet from the blog of the family with the 12 children. Judge that.

mygorgeousmilo · 02/09/2017 09:22

I need to know where the dad is of Tomanychildren - what happened there? The 'to' bit is painful to read. Too many kids indeed, irritating twit.

CheesehBox · 02/09/2017 09:40

I'd love to know how a single parent affords to dress 12 children in Boden and other expensive brands

CheesehBox · 02/09/2017 09:41

Saying that, the boys don't look as well dressed.
