To want to shoot my friend

liverbird10 · 15/08/2017 12:46

...for naming his daughter Tinkerbell?

I know I am actually BU as it's none of my business etc. Also shooting people is generally not the way to approach such matters.

I feel so sorry for the poor kid. She's going to go through torture at school. Not to mention thee rest of her life. Imagine a high court judge called Tinkerbell.

I met a skunk called Stinkerbell a few weeks ago. True story.

Fekko · 15/08/2017 21:06

I've never met a skunk...

AlpacaPicnic · 15/08/2017 21:07

I knew a couple of Demelzas - growing up in Cornwall it wasn't that unusual.

I did register a J Jellybean once. Jellybean was the middle name, not the surname.

mummyofmoomoos · 15/08/2017 23:15

I will have a 12ft x 12ft diptank full of fresh hot caustic soda on the go tomorrow- could be a great place to accidently drop 'evidence' Grin

liverbird10 · 16/08/2017 00:01

I'm grateful for all your offers of assistance in the disposal of my aforementioned friend. I'm sure that when "The Tinkster" grows up she will understand my reasoning entirely. Grin

A lady from work has a DGD called Trixiebelle, Trixie for short.
Just makes me think of a stripper

JaneJeffer · 16/08/2017 00:52

Is your friend called Zak Dingle by any chance?

5BlueHydrangea · 16/08/2017 01:05

I know one. She is about 10. When her Mum first told me I did ask her if it was a nickname but no it's real.. They call her Tink too. Mad.

SapphireSeptember · 16/08/2017 01:33

Shooting is too good for him!

Some friends of a friend have daughters called Rubella and Scarlatina (Ruby and Scarlet for short) and were going to name their third daughter Chlamydia (shortened to Lydia) but went with Yellow instead (I assume her middle name is Fever). Hmm Apparently they're Goths, I still don't think that explains why they would name their kids after diseases.
Names like Amy, Angela, Anette, Christina and Sharon are much nicer! (Thinking of the names of some of my favourite singers.)

DeadMorose · 16/08/2017 01:37

You should stab him with icicle. That way it melts away and no one will ever know. Wink

MissMoneyPlant · 16/08/2017 02:01

Sapphire Some friends of a friend have daughters called Rubella and Scarlatina (Ruby and Scarlet for short)

ShockShockShock

Rubella sounds like a lovely name, mind... Grin

CoughLaughFart · 16/08/2017 02:30

As a by the way, anyone out there either called or know of a 'Shula' (of 'The Archers') or a 'Demelza' ('Poldark')?.

I went to school with a Shula. Judging by her surname she was Jewish. It does sound very Old Testament.

SapphireSeptember · 16/08/2017 02:41

Miss They sound like lovely names if you don't think about it too hard! When my friend was telling me about this family I was a bit shocked! I am going to have to ask her what Yellow's middle name is though...

Dear That's an excellent idea!

liverbird10 · 16/08/2017 12:25

DeadMorose He's not Jim Fenner, thank God! Grin

AngeloMysterioso · 16/08/2017 12:59

IamNotDarling she could equally be named after Zelda Fitzgerald?

Oubliette- someone's been watching Labyrinth

Fekko · 16/08/2017 17:19

And 'tink' was an insult when I was a child (short for tinker/gypsy modern equivalent = chav I guess)

LivLemler · 16/08/2017 17:24

Exactly what I was going to say Fekko! In Ireland, tinker is not very nice slang for travellers. The sort of word not used in polite company.

Fekko · 16/08/2017 17:25

'Oi tink - come in fur yer tea!'

Craigie · 16/08/2017 17:57

You sound a bit Katie Hopkins to me.

Macncheesewithbacon · 16/08/2017 17:57

Her parents can't even have read Peter Pan because tinkerbelle is a fucking bitch! Grin

Edda09 · 16/08/2017 19:13

In countries like Norway there is a registered list of accepted names. If you want something not on the list, you have to apply to have it added. Stops all these stupid 'names' and ridiculous spellings!

OJZJ · 16/08/2017 19:20

Large shard of ice then the finger prints would melt away so no evidence as long as gloves worn so no dna or large heavy frozen joint of meat so you can cook the murder weapon and feed to the dog...
Lived opposite a Chandler once and a Draco went to my sons nursery....

Whinesalot · 16/08/2017 19:35

I've never met a skunk...

I have - but he wasn't called Stinkerbelle

MistressClaireBeauchamp · 16/08/2017 19:45

@Maudlinmaud

"Is he religious? Our local priest refused to baptise a baby with the name Angel."

How odd: it's quite common is Spanish speaking countries for boys to be called Angel or Jesus!

As for Zizi - words fail me!

neilwalker · 16/08/2017 19:50

What's their reason for the name? People must have questioned it. What do they say to justify such a ridiculously affected name?
