Normal response I get is that he's a joke and they are embarassed...these are conversations around the hotel with Americans from all over.

It almost seems to be a relief for them that we are all seeing it the same way. There is still though a very anti-NK vibe/fear.

1. THREAD. #Antifa is gaining attention and Dems should state where they stand. My view is informed by my civil war experience in Beirut.
2. I believe in non-violent protest as a means to bring about social change. I also believe in reasonable self-defense if you're attacked.
3. There is no moral equivalency between those who promote hate and oppression and those who reject them. But violence begets more violence.
4. I survived a brutal civil war, where village was pitted against village. The cycle of vengeance and retribution is a terrible thing.
5. To defeat abhorrent ideas and acts, we must embody the strength and dignity of our moral values. We must set an example for others.
