Kat Timpf of Fox News has called Trump out.

I noticed that he didn't answer if he had confidence in Bannon. I guess he is next for the chop.
As someone here said yesterday he just exploits and discards people as I thought Bannon was alt-right, Trump seems to support them just now but indicates he's going to bin Bannon?

This is all Trumps karma. He wants to be loved and revered, he cannot handle the media heckling of the kind he gave to Obama.

CaveMum · 15/08/2017 23:02

The winery in Virginia that he bragged about owning just distanced itself fromhim saying:

"Trump Winery is a registered trade name of Eric Trump Wine Manufacturing LLC, which is not owned, managed or affiliated with Donald J. Trump, The Trump Organization or any of their affiliates,"

TheNorthWestPawsage · 15/08/2017 23:02

WH aides didn't want him to take questions. Press were told one hour before there would be no questions. Trump overruled them.

"That was all him -- this wasn't our plan," a WH official tells me in candid moment as reality of what transpired sinks in at Trump Tower.

OMFG, l just read the transcript. It's astonishingly hideous.
David Duke (former KKK head) praised his comments, and that says it all really Angry

Golondrina · 15/08/2017 23:05

Just totally dumbstruck by this all.

RhuBarbarella · 15/08/2017 23:08

According to Claire Hepworth on twitter the NJT has a the news that Murdoch had told Trump to do Bannon.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 15/08/2017 23:10

Jim Acosta - we were watching a presidency going off the rails.

I bet it wasn't their plan! General Kelly looked ashen.

The contrast between what Trump really thinks i.e the press conference just gone, and what Trump is sometimes persuaded to read out, yesterday's statement, couldn't be clearer.

Lweji · 15/08/2017 23:18

Run the government like a business, find a income stream such as oil or sell arms.
Shock

TheNorthWestPawsage · 15/08/2017 23:20

A forgiving man, but I doubt he'll get his wish when it's people like David Duke we're talking about.

squoosh · 15/08/2017 23:24

Yup. Trump's Republican chums are shitting themselves and are being quick in getting their 'Hey you guys, just so you know I think the neo-Nazis are totally like gross' statements out.

We must be clear. White supremacy is repulsive. This bigotry is counter to all this country stands for. There can be no moral ambiguity.

HoneyIshrunktheBiscuit · 15/08/2017 23:40

I remember when he was elected and me and a few other mnetters had a friend where we discussed how his victory had so many similarities to 1930s Germany. And we were told we were being dramatic and that it wasn't bad taste to make such comparisons.

I knew I'd be proven right.

PerkingFaintly · 15/08/2017 23:41

I know people are in pain. But I don't think it's a great idea to joke about 45 dying right now. Isn't that what he did, retweeting a cartoon of CNN being run over by a train?

I get the despair and anger, though. Thanks

badbadhusky · 15/08/2017 23:51

Things are without question very, very bad, but I think Trump's domestic crisis may have inadvertently de-escalated the North Korea/nukes situation through lack of attention. Silver linings, everyone.

And with that thought, I'm off to bed.

Lweji · 16/08/2017 00:15

That comment came up as I opened the thread.

I now realised I should have saved the Shock Shock Shock for Trump.

But I'm not shocked. I'm shocked anyone was fooled by his late fake condemnation.

He hated doing it, as he hated signing the Russian sanctions bill.
This is the Trump I've seen since early on. I'll be very surprised if he ever shows a heart in the right place.

CaveMum · 16/08/2017 06:28

Apparently Trump still hasn't contacted Heather Heyer's family to give his condolences. Not surprised.

blueskyinmarch · 16/08/2017 07:04

This is terrifying and horrifying.

Vice news documentary about what happened in Charlottesville. Hope the link works.

Roussette · 16/08/2017 07:04

Here is Michael Moore's view on it all. He always gets it right I think

I do wonder what her family think of his statement and whether they will express their views - especially given his recent statement - and not the statement he was forced to read.

honeysucklejasmine · 16/08/2017 07:16

I wish I had something intelligent to contribute to these threads. I am just in a state of disbelief right now.

Roussette · 16/08/2017 07:29

bluesky I've just watched that. Absolutely shocking. I'm actually lost for words. Trump has everything to answer for.

The interview at about 3minutes turned my stomach. A neo nazi talks of Trump but perhaps Trump needs to listen to the footage about his daughter/Jared.

Then the interview at 19 minutes. This is what Trump is endorsing.

I feel a bit sick after watching that. Every single Republican Senator needs to watch this.

Stuffofawesome · 16/08/2017 07:30

Wonder what Ivanka and Jared make of all this? He must have hated it when she converted

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 16/08/2017 07:30

I watched that Vice documentary last night. Extraordinary. The reporter and her team did a fantastic job getting that access and catching that stuff on the camera. I doubt Trump will ever see it, but would it give him pause to think that some of these Nazis think he's a race traitor for 'letting' Ivanka marry a Jew?

So, so depressing. Surely this must be a turning point for many of the more moderate Republicans?

Having said that, I'm not surprised by the number of Jewish and black Americans who are saying 'Come on, this isn't new, what's new is that it's being said so openly - the US has always been a racist country'. After WW2, West Germany tackled the issue of racism and antisemitism head on and attempted to root it out with education. They changed the law so it's a criminal offence to display the swastika or do a Nazi salute or deny the Holocaust. Obviously they didn't succeed in rooting racism out entirely, because it's a cancer that seems to grow in all societies, but at least they tried. I don't think the US has made the same effort at all, and now we see the consequences.

Just as with Brexit, Trump's election seems to have encouraged a deeply intolerant, xenophobic, racist, bigoted, ignorant-and-proud-of-it group to start saying publicly what they never stopped saying privately, and it's vile.

Roussette · 16/08/2017 07:36

Totally agree with all you say Gasp. Trump is endorsing all of this. It's only going to get worse.
