To eat a burger with my hands?

Happytobefree17 · 12/08/2017 16:32

In a gastro pub?

My friend is aghast that I didn't use cutlery. Thinks I'm some sort of Neanderthal for eating with my hands. Grin

Who is right?

You are right. Much easier to eat burger and chips with your hands!

PaperdollCartoon · 12/08/2017 16:33

You can't eat a burger with cutlery wherever you aren't, THAT would be obscene.

I would probably cut a big one in half to eat though.

Floralnomad · 12/08/2017 16:34

In a restaurant , even a pub restaurant , I'd eat with cutlery .

CosmicPineapple · 12/08/2017 16:34

Does your friend think you should use a knife and fork to eat a burger? Confused

If so find new friends Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/08/2017 16:34

Surely you're supposed to eat a burger with your hands?Confused

Eminybob · 12/08/2017 16:34

Well it's not just that it's easier, it's just how you eat a burger!
Would your friend eat a cheese sandwich with a knife and fork? No! Same principal for a burger.

kel1234 · 12/08/2017 16:35

I can't stand people who eat with their hands when in a restaurant or a pub. This Includes pizza restaurants. I always use a knife and fork when eating out. I just think it looks much better.
The only exceptions are places like McDonalds and kfc and similar, basically fast food places.

flowery · 12/08/2017 16:35

Cutlery to eat a burger?!!! That's ridiculous!

Oysterbabe · 12/08/2017 16:35

Burgers are supposed to be eaten with hands. If you don't you're doing it wrong.

Happytobefree17 · 12/08/2017 16:36

She thinks you should cut little triangle bite sized pieces...

I once saw someone eat a sandwich with cutlery. Was very odd to see.

CosmicPineapple · 12/08/2017 16:36

Is your friend kel1234 Wink

dollydaydream114 · 12/08/2017 16:37

You're supposed to eat burgers with your hands! It really annoys me when hipster burger places serve you burgers so stacked up with crap that you physically can't pick them up and take a bite. Eating burgers with cutlery is the pits.

Do you remember when David Cameron was photographed eating a hot dog with a knife and fork? He looked like an absolute tit.

flowery · 12/08/2017 16:37

". I always use a knife and fork when eating out."

Sandwiches? Wraps? Crisps? Bread roll? Fajitas? Chicken wings? Ribs?

TinklyLittleLaugh · 12/08/2017 16:38

I eat pizza with my fingers too. Pizza is street food.

notevernotnevernotnohow · 12/08/2017 16:40

I always use a knife and fork when eating out. I just think it looks much better

If your main concern is how you look to others while eating, you are somewhat missing the point of doing so.

You can't possibly eat everything with a knife and fork. And if you do, believe me, no-one is looking at you and thinking that looks better!

AgnesNitt1976 · 12/08/2017 16:40

Burgers are meant to be eaten with your hands hence the bun, although some burgers are ridiculously big and are incredibly hard to eat without spilling it all down you.

WhooooAmI24601 · 12/08/2017 16:40

Eating a burger with cutlery would feel so Hyacinth Bouquet!

FastandLoose · 12/08/2017 16:41

Definitely nbu.

Burgers are meant to be eaten with hands (and yes, I'm with pp in annoyance with overstacked burgers - I still cut in half and crush enough to eat with hands!)

Pizza also is clearly not meant to be eaten with knife and fork.

flowery · 12/08/2017 16:42

No one "looks better" eating a burger with cutlery. Unless their goal in life is to look like a complete nutter.

Redglitter · 12/08/2017 16:42

I always use a knife and fork when eating out. I just think it looks much better

If you're eating burgers and pizza with a knife and fork I think it's safe to say absolutely no-one looking at you will think it looks much better. They're probably thinking the exact opposite in fact

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 12/08/2017 16:42

Assuming the burger is in a bap, yes eat it holding it in your hands.
Bap-less ... knife and fork job!

Happytobefree17 · 12/08/2017 16:42

Burgers and pizza just doesn't taste as good when eaten with cutlery.

LonginesPrime · 12/08/2017 16:45

It's much ruder to criticise someone else's table manners, IMO!

Lobsterinacan · 12/08/2017 16:45

My mum used to eat wimpys with a knife and fork in the 70s
