This is horrific. CNN and BBC reporting one dead in Charlottesville, presumably as a result of the car ploughing into the anti White Supremacist protesters. Yes, this is down to Trump.

It just feels like we're in a downward spiral, that it's the beginning of the end. But of what? The US or Trump's presidency?

I know things are going on madly behind the scenes. I know there is more to these investigations that are going on than we can see. I know it all must be done sub rosa. But it's hard to keep on believing that it'll all turn out OK in the end.

I've just seen the BBC news that someone is dead in the Charlottesville protests (from the details so far, it looks to me like a counterprotestor killed by a car deliberately and repeatedly driven onto the pavement).

I have no words. America is going mad in front of the watching world.

Watching what's happened in Charlottesville is making me want to cry. Even more so at the response from Trump - "on both sides", really?? Just so fucking stupid, and it hurts even more knowing that people will jump on his words to defend the protesters by claiming "it's not just them" or whatever bullshit.

Sorry for being so negative. I can't find much about this situation to be positive about, and I don't have it nearly as bad as some of you posters, I'm not in the US.
