My husband is from the US and was in grade school in 60s - he said they had a regular nuclear attack drill where they had to hide under their tables in the classroom! (About as much use as my tin foil hat!)

No he said definitely nuclear attack fears. He's from NJ - no earthquakes.

Those were the 'duck and cover' drills weren't they? I've seen footage. Terrifying. Tbh I feel the same about the 'lock down' drills they apparently do now.
