Am I a horrible snob?
Here are mine:
Bowls of pebbles on coffee table (why?)
Black and diamanté furniture
Photos printed onto canvas (CRAP quality just get a good photographic print and frame it!)
Those shiny duvet sets and cushions
Fire surround but no fire place (not) even a hole in the wall!

Don't people know that coloured bathroom suites are actually cool again? Search Houzz.

They're only off putting in real life where if you come across one it's usually matched with a manky shower curtain and 2 inches of mouldy silicone where they've tried to plug the last 4 decades of leaks.

BasketOfDeplorables · 17/07/2017 13:41

Facelike if you think 20 limes is too many, you're not drinking enough gin and tonic.

Pombliboo123 · 17/07/2017 13:43

Sea themed bathrooms Angry

With seashells and seahorses and shit.

Hate it.

CoughingForWeeks · 17/07/2017 13:59

Oh dear. I have fitted carpet, magnolia walls, black subway tiles and vertical blinds (rental flat - not my choice, though I quite like the tiles). In addition, I have candles, bunting, fairy lights, patterned bedding and brown leather sofas/armchair with teal/duck egg accessories. Good job it's only me who has to live there.

notsomuchgreen · 17/07/2017 14:03

Slogans and the like make a home seem to me like what you might see in a correction facility -
'The beatings will continue until morale improves' kind of thing.

Cluttered walls have a junk/charity shop look
A shoe cupboard downstairs - yes, your visitors will notice the smell
Long pile carpets trip up the pissed unwary
A faux encaustic tile look in vinyl squares - just nasty
Another leather sofa hater here, horrible, horrible, horrible.

fruitbrewhaha · 17/07/2017 14:07

Those words of walls are so shit.
"Eat like no-ones watching, dance like you're too drunk to stand, love like a fucking idiot"

goingonabearhunt1 · 17/07/2017 14:12

I hate leather sofas too.

Also hate those fake cork lino floor tiles; I just think they look dirty. My DM has them on the kitchen floor and always has, in every house she's lived in. Not sure why really.

I don't like anything shiny, shiny bedspreads etc. Just think it's nasty. And I hate it when there's a million lamps everywhere so it takes forever to turn them all off.

Hot tubs are full of human detritus. Yuck

notsomuchgreen · 17/07/2017 14:17

Hot tubs are full of human detritus

I've seen them called Chlamydia Soup on here.

LakieLady · 17/07/2017 14:18

So far, fitted carpet, laminate, wooden floors and shiny floor tiles have all had the MN thumbs down.

What does that leave? Flagstones, marble and non-shiny tiles, I reckon.

Tbh, we'd soon run out of china and glasses if we had tile or stone floors. At least things bounce on carpet.

Feature walls
Just awful

LaurieFairyCake · 17/07/2017 14:26

Angry my map is coolio right? Not a 'feature wall' Grin

lanouvelleheloise · 17/07/2017 14:28

Love the map.

I have particular loathing in my heart for feature walls with massive pink or red splotches on them. They are supposed to be flowers, but it honestly looks like some kind of massacre happened in the lounge.

missmoz · 17/07/2017 14:32

Frog tape

missmoz · 17/07/2017 14:33

And worse than frog tape, crushed velvet anything.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/07/2017 14:39

Can't say I've ever seen Frog Tape used as a feature before. Is that the stuff you use to mask stuff off for a straight line?

Pallisers · 17/07/2017 14:40

Frog tape

What is that? Is it just the tape you use when painting??

MakeJam · 17/07/2017 14:44

Bowler hats made into light fittings. Just why?

Can I get that embroidered on a cushion?Smile

Pestilentialone · 17/07/2017 14:46

The map is great, it is very useful.

Pestilentialone · 17/07/2017 14:48

The beatings will continue until morale improves an alternative name for AIBU?

MrsMarigold · 17/07/2017 14:51

I like places where people have gathered things over time, things they love. I don't like anything too matchy, matchy. I live in a house that is more shabby than chic, ancient brocade curtains, huge drafty, windows, knackered floorboards, worn seagrass matting and rugs, old roll top baths and draughty marble fireplaces. Most people love it, although it isn't a comfy house and sometimes I see people look in horror
