New thread so that we can await this afternoon's hearing at 1400 (UK time)

Let's try to keep this one as sensible and measured as the past 7 threads have been.

Please note the MNHQ comment on thread number 7.

"Hi everyone,

..... We had to remove several parent-blaming posts, so we'd like to ask folk not to do this. We think we can all agree that this is a truly awful time for all involved and we just wouldn't wish it on anyone. If there's anything we could do with more of, it's support. We'll continue to remove reported posts that break TGs (if we've missed something, do feel free to let us know).

If we have to make too many deletions, we will need to look at removing the thread; which is the last thing we wish to do.

Thanks all"

Sky news link for those unable to follow Twitter. Reports from Joshua Rozenburg and also a sky journo.

I can't even imagine how the parents and doctors and everyone is feeling today... there's no winning in this situation. My heart breaks for that poor baby Sad

Trampire · 14/07/2017 12:06

Yes, thanks for the new thread.

I don't think I'd have found the GOSH statement that was linked earlier without these threads. It was hugely beneficial to my understanding of the whole case.

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 12:07

LapinR0se If you'd like, I'm happy to post from the skynews link of any updates etc

Just want to say thank you for these threads, I've been following from around thread 3 and have found it such an antidote to the abyss of craziness that is CA.

These threads sum up everything that I love and appreciate about Mumsnet, it's the only place I've found I can read genuinely balanced discussion.

So onto this afternoon, hoping for some kind of resolution at least partly, for beautiful Charlie.

rabbitnothare · 14/07/2017 12:10

FallenUnicorn I agree, I felt as if I was the only person to disagree with the prolonging of Charlie's life at all cost to him until Mumsnet allowed the threads to run.

LapinR0se · 14/07/2017 12:11

Yes go for it, I'll be in meetings this afternoon (but surreptitiously looking at my phone)

SimplyNigella · 14/07/2017 12:11

I followed the JR tweets whilst in an all day meeting yesterday and needed to catch up on these threads last night to get the full picture. I generally avoid Sky News but will follow both reports today if they give a better understanding.

I really hope the meeting this morning was productive, I think the judge is handling the situation incredibly well.

LapinR0se · 14/07/2017 12:11

That was to @cjt110 Smile

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 12:11

I envisage today will surround the NY expert and his ability to come and visit Charlie himself. And the Italian expert's testimony too? I believe he was on the line all of yesterday afternoon without providing his evidence yet.

Okie doke Lapin I didn't want to do it and ruffle anyone's feathers. I am at work, it's a quiet day so can happily copy away...

Sallystyle · 14/07/2017 12:13

I will be at work this afternoon so won't be able to spend much time online. If anyone could post updates so I and others can just pop on here when we have time to catch up I would be very grateful.

Sallystyle · 14/07/2017 12:14

Sorry OP. Just saw you had already planned to do so.

LapinR0se · 14/07/2017 12:14

I think today at 2pm they will confirm when the multidisciplinary meeting will be held. That's what Sky's reporter predicted

cjt110 · 14/07/2017 12:15

@SkyNewsAdele 29m Back at the High Court for @SkyNews providing live updates on the #CharlieGard case. @JoshuaRozenberg and @SkyFixerJim tweeting from inside.

@JoshuaRozenberg** 3h Charlie Gard: hearing resumes 2pm. Meanwhile, here’s the full position statement filed at court by GOSH yesterday: gosh.nhs.uk/file/23611/dow…

Are we happy if I shorten the Twitter names as follows?

@JR: Joshua Rozenburg
@SFJ: SkyFixerJim

Did anyone hear the Radio Four thought for the day on this today. It's downloadable now. It's very compassionate.

rabbitnothare - absolutely! Especially with the media and their selective reporting. Headlines saying "Charlie now has 50% chance of improving" , it's just crazy and explains in part why so many aren't understanding GOSH's position.
