To be loving finally having a MLM friend...?!

WineAndTiramisu · 30/06/2017 20:31

After reading so much on here about all the MLM shite, I've finally got someone on my Facebook who is doing some coffee weight loss thing, her posts are hilarious!

Anyone else keeping their MLM people on their feed just for the comedy value?

This is pretty revealing OP, you've left some names on there...Blush

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 30/06/2017 20:37

I had to unfollow cousins for posting similar, but now it's about Pearl Parties.

I've just watched the documentary film 'Betting on Zero' on Netflix it's about Herbalife, part of the story is about investor/hedge fund manager betting against the company for moral and financial reasons but on the other side you have these people who have invested so much money and time into it that's ruined their lives. Hopefully your friend won't get it's that much trouble, I just find it really sad that these schemes are allowed to flourish.

WineAndTiramisu · 30/06/2017 20:37

Oops... Have reported it, thought I'd cleverly hidden them all!

Urgh, I hate MlM with a passion.

Another online mums group basically called me the devil for pointing out it was a pyramid scheme, exploitive to women, is emotionally abusive, and targets the most vulnerable...

You have left a name on the picture. Perhaps report the post and recrop and post again. Unless you want your "friend" to see it 😉

I love a Friday night MLM bashing!

WineAndTiramisu · 30/06/2017 20:39

Oh well, she'll never know it's me! I have reported it though, it's just that middle picture...

[Message from MNHQ - we've removed that pic now]

About 30% of the group had tried or was active on an MLM. Which kind of proves my point tbf!

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 30/06/2017 20:40

What's mlm?

MaidOfStars · 30/06/2017 20:43

Is it Skinny Coffee?

It's amazing. Lost 18lb in 3 days.

Not really.

namechange20050 · 30/06/2017 20:43

I have an Arbonne bot on my feed. It's hilarious. All inspirational quotes, pseudoscience & that ultimate goal of a white merc!

fairgame84 · 30/06/2017 20:43

I lost my best friend of 16 years to FL Angry.
MLMs are seem to have some sort of brain washing power, like a cult. Very strange.

WineSlob · 30/06/2017 20:44

captain check out not so precious pearl page on Facebook, they even managed to get it a pearl party seller onto a BBC programme. Forget the name but it's one with the three ladies who help with rogue traders and money issues

AwaywiththePixies27 · 30/06/2017 20:45

What's MLM?

toffee1000 · 30/06/2017 20:46

MLMs are multi level marketing. Aka pyramid schemes. There are tonnes- Arbonne, Younique, Forever Living... the members all try and get you to buy expensive stuff and sign up too. Have a Google of MLMs.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 30/06/2017 20:47

MLM is multi level marketing or something, i think. Where the promoters can "rank up" by recruiting new members etc.

Loopy9 · 30/06/2017 20:48

Multi level marketing basically pyramid selling..

Brittbugs80 · 30/06/2017 20:49

Multi level marketing.

It's where you join a company them recruit others, pushing you up the ladder. They get round it being a pyramid scheme, which is illegal, by allowing people below you to overtake your level with sales and climb higher up the scale.

SittingAround1 · 30/06/2017 20:50

Multi level marketing
A bit like a pyramid scheme where recruits have to sell things and work their way up. Most end up losing money as they have to buy the product in the first place.

SittingAround1 · 30/06/2017 20:51

Haha lots of cross posts

TidyDancer · 30/06/2017 20:52

I have a forever living bot on my Facebook. I have unfollowed her but occasionally dip into her profile for fun. Most of what she posts is contrived bullshit solely intended to market her aloe vera crap.

BIL's idiot girlfriend sells Darcey's candles, forever living and does those pearl popping parties. She is dumb as a box of rocks anyway but she got hooked in when she had her DS and I doubt even BIL realises how much money she is spunking up the wall.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 30/06/2017 20:52

I have a Scentsy seller on mine. I've never heard of them, are they a similar MLM thing?

Theweasleytwins · 30/06/2017 20:54

Someone I went to school with (10 years ago) added me to a younique page, I felt so sorry for the lady as she had put up pictures of the most hideous makeup on herself. I had to unfollow because it was very sad/funny

SnowiestMountain · 30/06/2017 20:55

Is Arbonne MLM?? I have one on my feed and wondered why she was #sohappy and #lovemyjob all the time! Hmm

AlmostAJillSandwich · 30/06/2017 20:55

Someone on my Fb who i went to school with already did healthy fit promoting (it was using a lot of juice plus products but then with a heavily coconut based diet and "clean" eating) doing that stupid "get 25 of your 5 a day in just these 3 caps!" as if 3 vitamin sized tabs could hold all the vitamin and mineral content of a portion of each fruit veg or berry, it was ridiculous. She did go from an 18 to an 8 in 5 months though doing it herself, but then she had a second baby and now can't shift all the extra weight for anything.
She has now moved on to Younique, and never even spells the bloody company name right! She also is wearing shades of foundation, concealer etc that do not match her skin tone, whilst doing side by side comparison photos of her wearing youniques crap and her old makeup collection of MAC etc, where she's clearly taken about 10 times as long an application of Younique to try to make it look even half as good as the other stuff.

I feel bad for her, she was a nice enough girl, i think she is just genuinely bored of being a stay at home mum.

MGFM · 30/06/2017 20:56

I have an arbonne seller on mine. Problem is, my makeup artist used their foundation on my wedding day and again when I used her for a few things and it is the best bloody foundation I have ever worn. I really want to buy some but don't want to be on her radar!

WineAndTiramisu · 30/06/2017 20:57

I think that if all their posts include the following, it's probably MLM

  • look at me sitting at home, getting everything done along with my fab new business
  • #blessed
  • join me, you'll make thousands
  • look how much weight lost/skin improved/farts smelling sweeter, why don't you try it?
