Help! We don't want to appear rude but we are in Spain with my toddler and another couple have latched onto us for a week now...they have 3 dc and are different ages to ours 🙂 today we got up early to put towels down but they spotted us and so sad next to us...again! We can't move our towels now as it would be rude. We just want to chill and read but they talk all day mainly at us!

Go out for the day - go to a beach, say you've changed your mind. If they ask which one say you haven't decided. Just keep going out.

Put on headphones and pretend you are sleeping!

Next time they speak answer politely then say that you are going to read your book now and I'd like to know how you achieve that with a toddler there

You may just need to be a bit rude. You've paid a lot of hard earned money to be there just be a bit selfish!

She goes to kids club for a few hours so I can read...but all we have had is their kids hassling us then.

You're going to have to tell them straight, or it'll ruin your holiday! You shouldn't have to go out for the day if you want to lounge by the pool!

They asked us to go on a day trip with them...they said they were going today and I assertively said no. Looks like they haven't gone now!

😍 just say you are tired or feeling sick maybe... close your eyes and hopefully they will leave you alone

Just be a bit blunt. Say "our DD is in kids club we want to have some quiet time till ourselves and don't feel like chatting sorry" then put your book in front of your face. Maybe a bit rude but then its rude to impose on people too.

Can you imagine if she's a mumsnetter 😁

They're being ride, so you'll have to be rude back and just move. You'll never see them again after the holiday so no need to spare their feelings. They're ruining your holiday, don't let them!

Woman up and stop being so passive. just turn to your book. If their kids pester you, just politely say you're reading, then ignore them!

Blondielongie · 29/06/2017 07:31

Tell them you've got a stinking cold and whenever they ask you something or say something ignore or say, 'huh, what? Sorry this cold is affecting my hearing. Just need to sleep' keep mishearing them. They will get fed up of you.

I wouldn't want to be obviously rude unless you have a thick skin - wouldn't want a holiday ruined by a horrible atmosphere.

My worst nightmare. You're going to have to be rude.

The other day they couldn't find sunbeds so actually came and sat on the end of ours.

Be rude! We'll help. Imagine us all on the other sunbeds, egging you on.

oh gosh can't imagine anything worse! a friendly chat once or twice is cool but not this!

Just stay firm and hopefully they'll get the message :)

Seriously, tell them to fuck off. Essential life skill.

Put earphones in and look like you are sleeping.

Loopytiles · 29/06/2017 07:35

When they sat on your sunbeds did you ask them to move?

If not, you should have.
