to still be obsessing...about a kitchen appliance?

I saw one being demo-ed in John Lewis nearly 6 years ago, but it was £400 (which I still don't really have, though I could save it up) and have been obsessed with it ever since. Every so often I google it and try to work out if it's worth buying or not. I've just caught myself looking at second hand ones on ebay and Gumtree and I am beginning to suspect I ABU. This is silly, right? A kitchen appliance is not worth 400 quid - or today's price which is more like 550 - nor is it worth drooling over. Right?

Absolutely right. Goods will not make you happy. What you do with them will, like say it's a kitchen aid thingy, cooking for family or friends and enjoying a meal with them will make you happy but the appliance will not. Save your money to do things that affect you emotionally.

callmeadoctor · 15/06/2017 08:19

We need to know what it is? 😁

RJnomore1 · 15/06/2017 08:22

If it's a kitchenaid I totally understand.

I've been lusting over a vitamix for a few years myself.

AperolOnIce · 15/06/2017 08:24

If it's a KitchenAid then trust me - it WILL make you happy!

FastAbsorbingCake · 15/06/2017 08:28

Babyiwantabump · 15/06/2017 08:29

If it's a kitchenaid - get one! They are amazing! I love mine and use it every day!

RoseVase2010 · 15/06/2017 08:55

As the owner of a very nice range cooker I can safely say that kitchen appliances do make you happy.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 15/06/2017 09:00

I've never understood the love of the kitchenaid but spent loads on my range cooker and adore it!

Dishwashersaurous · 15/06/2017 09:18

I lust after a kitchen aid but again cannot justify it

Justdontgetitatall · 15/06/2017 09:27

"Hi my name is Tracey and I have lusted after a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer now for 3.5 years" "Hi Tracey"

Currently waiting for QVC to offer a Raspberry Ice one on Easy Pay Instalments.

AngeloMysterioso · 15/06/2017 09:29

I hear you OP. I've been wanting a Vitamixnfor several years now but just can't afford it!

BusterGonad · 15/06/2017 09:59

I'm currently lusting after a mini electric range style cooker. I want it and I need it! Grin

It is actually a Vitamix RJ. I personally don't 'get' the KitchenAid fascination - can't see it doing anything that a handwhisk can't do, only without the same level of keeping-an-eye-on-it I can do with a handwhisk. I have never actually used one though, so am prepared to be told IABU, though it's possibly not a good thing that I develop another kitchen accessory fascination...

Why don't you just buy a nutribullet?

bananamonkey · 15/06/2017 13:59

I have a Vitamix (bought with bonus vouchers from work), I love it but should do more with it!

FakePlasticTeaLeaves · 15/06/2017 14:02

So now I have watched a video of someone making homemade peanut butter with this Vitamix product that I'd never heard of until 5 minutes ago.

yumm, peanut butter.

Whatishappenin · 15/06/2017 14:05

I have a Vitamix. Make ice cream (mainly banana ice cream) all the time. I love it!

mooninscorpio · 15/06/2017 14:09

Keep an eye on QVC, they sometimes have them on easy pay so you can pay in 4 instalments Smile

1MillionSelfiesTakenByMyKids · 15/06/2017 14:13

Ooh... Now I have to find QVC... Thanks for enabling ;-)

And the woman doing the demo made chocolate and orange mousse, washed it, made strawberry ice cream, washed it, made peanut butter, washed it, made Thai soup WHICH THE VITAMIX HEATED UP - it was incredible. She even did something with the woody bit in the middle of pineapples. I was there a while... (free lunch. yum)

It looks so easy to wash, which is half the appeal, the other half of the appeal is how thoroughly it blends things - am so sick of trying to get lumpy bits out of the bottom of the liquidiser.

Are Nutribullets as hardcore?

VItamix owners - what are your favourite things to make in it?

hellobonjour · 15/06/2017 14:24

Sorry it makes ice cream?

Ignore my previous comment OP.

Buy the vitamix

Pollyanna · 15/06/2017 14:29

Is that like Bamix OP? Me and dd were at the cake and bake show a couple of years ago and were drawn in by the Bamix demo. It looked amazing. She still goes on about it now (she's 14!).

1MillionSelfiesTakenByMyKids · 15/06/2017 14:34

No idea what a Bamix is. Will go and google.

hellobonjour - she used cream and frozen fruit, but it blitzed them so fast that they retained the frozen-ness so it was ice cream! you could either eat it then and there as soft serve or pop it back in the freezer for later.

hellobonjour · 15/06/2017 14:49

OP you have said enough Grin

It's time to buy the vitamix

1MillionSelfiesTakenByMyKids · 15/06/2017 17:21

Thanks hellobonjour - I think I needed permission.

erm...

lend us fifty quid? And then maybe another 500?

KitchenAid is the Apple of kitchen appliances. It's expensive, but once you have it, it will please you.
