Or is Owen Jones one very angry young man?

Just sat down to watch a bit of news. Saw he was on Sky (despite THAT tantrum), can't be doing with him so flick to BBC24 and there is he participating in a round-table "discussion" - which for Owen Jones means glowering at everyone then furiously and darkly laying into the host and publicly scratching away at that chip on his shoulder. He cannot debate, can only sulk, strop and spout off as though he is the bloody oracle and no-one else knows anything. He talks over everyone. He's a very stroppy sort of grownup.

yanbu, he comes across as the guy in the group that you wouldn't discuss certain things with because as soon as you hear his opinion it reminds you why you actually don't like him all that much.

Some things he has said I can't say I disagree with but it's all about the delivery and he has minimal to no skills in that; makes his point fall by the way side.

ProudAunty2nine · 11/06/2017 11:49

YNBU. 100% agree.
I don't know why Sky had him back and genuinely worried for the host yesterday when he was on one of his rants.
All he wants to do is shout about being a gay man and how the whole world hates him for it.
I don't like him, but not because he's gay because hes just a nasty shouty sulky individual!

JamieXeed74 · 11/06/2017 11:49

He is a very angry no so young man.

TheBogQueen · 11/06/2017 11:52

I can't stand him. I agree with slit if what he says but he is just do self righteous and snotty about it despite never having done a days proper work in his life.

HemanOrSheRa · 11/06/2017 11:53

Someone should tell Owen that shouting really loudly does not make you right.

His attitude to women and porn is an absolute bloody disgrace and for that alone I really do not like the little twerp.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/06/2017 11:53

yeah, we need more right wing "shock jocks" on our TV's, radio and in the papers. This country just doesn't have enough of them does it? Hmm

QueenLaBeefah · 11/06/2017 11:57

He's not young anymore but seemingly hadn't grown out of the eye rolling and glowering stage.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 11/06/2017 12:01

I'm not a fan. He does make some good points, but he comes across as such an annoying twerp anything useful gets lost.

CaoNiMartacus · 11/06/2017 12:08

I've enjoyed Owen's books. But in person he comes across as a monumental penis. It's unfortunate.

wowfudge · 11/06/2017 12:08

We saw him on Breakfast yesterday and there was something he came out with which we both commented on as just not correct.

MacarenaFerreiro · 11/06/2017 12:10

He needs to do a good deal of growing up before I can take him seriously.

CrossWordSalad · 11/06/2017 12:12

It's cognitive dissonance

Thiscantreallybehappening · 11/06/2017 12:12

YANBU

noblegiraffe · 11/06/2017 12:13

In my head he's about 17 but he's actually 32.

BeepBeepMOVE · 11/06/2017 12:14

Hes not actually that young anymore!

MorrisZapp · 11/06/2017 12:16

32???

MakingMerry · 11/06/2017 12:16

He's very good at what he does, which is mobilise the 18-25 left wing vote. He works mostly on social media. Mumsnet, and TV viewers aren't his target demographic.

So YANBU if he doesn't appeal to you. YABU in assuming that he intends to.

BeesOnTheWing · 11/06/2017 12:16

His manner swings between petulant and smugly patronising and he brings nothing to the table in terms of knowledge.

I have learned to turn over if he's on.

He ain't that young either.

BeesOnTheWing · 11/06/2017 12:17

He is good at self aggrandisement.

PumpkinPiloter · 11/06/2017 12:18

I really like him.

araiwa · 11/06/2017 12:19

he is usually right to be angry about the stuff/ people he is angry with

TheNaze73 · 11/06/2017 12:20

He's a tool

Terfing · 11/06/2017 12:20

His opinions on women and lesbians are disgusting.

He seems to think that because he writes for the Guardian, he has the moral high ground above anyone else he's debating with. Pathetic.

SerfTerf · 11/06/2017 12:22

I've enjoyed Owen's books. But in person he comes across as a monumental penis. It's unfortunate.

Beautifully summarised Grin

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/06/2017 12:23

He's put up against right wingers peddling intellect free tabloid soundbites I'm not surprized he gets angry. At least he thinks of other people rather than defending the establishment.
