I just saw a set of twins in town today , wearing identical floral skirts, coloured blouses and purple coats.. Nothing wrong with that you say, well they were in their 70's I would think. I have seen them before in town and they always wear matching outfits. I know it is really nobody's business but their own, but I found it a little cringey.

I think it's quite sweet and would make me smile.

Heratnumber7 · 08/06/2017 19:21

It's old fashioned, but sweet.

AssassinatedBeauty · 08/06/2017 19:21

I don't find it cringy, it seems quite a sweet thing to do. If it makes them happy then really it doesn't matter at all.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 08/06/2017 19:22

I've seen numerous articles in magazines about various twin sisters that have always dressed the same and still do in their retirement homes. I think it used to be more popular which is why older people are still doing it, but I don't think that will happen in future years as a lot of twins are dressed differently now

YABVU OP! Grin

When I Am Old.

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired,
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
And run my stick along the public railings,
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick the flowers in other people's gardens,
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go,
Or only bread and pickle for a week,
And hoard pens and pencils and beer mats
and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
And pay our rent and not swear in the street,
And set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practise a little now?
So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised,
When suddenly I am old
and start to wear purple!

Same as untangled - and hats off to them- admiration for doing in your 70's

FireSquirrel · 08/06/2017 19:22

You sound foul. YABVU.

AperolOnIce · 08/06/2017 19:28

Cringey? You found it cringey? You must lead a very sheltered life or be incredibly up your own rear end. It's really nothing to you what they or anyone else wears and since you are almost certainly not a twin in their 70's what on earth could you possibly know about why they do what they do?

Purplemac · 08/06/2017 19:34

Were you in Maidstone OP? Grin

ineedamoreadultieradult · 08/06/2017 19:37

I think it's lovely that they are still so close.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/06/2017 19:38

They give zero fucks. Good for them!

DonaldStott · 08/06/2017 19:39

Ah. They're not doing any harm. I hope they don't give a shiny shite that it made you cringe.

MrsChopper · 08/06/2017 19:39

^ what MrsTerry said.

ImportSave · 08/06/2017 19:39

Ugh. How unpleasant of you to judge.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 08/06/2017 19:41

Well...these days you are told to treat twins as individuals and not do it, but they would be brought up in different times, so, meh...not hurting anyone is it.

KindergartenKop · 08/06/2017 19:46

I knew some man twins with matching white beards.

namefail · 08/06/2017 19:47

I think it's slightly bonkers in a really sweet way Grin

PeaFaceMcgee · 08/06/2017 19:49

How nasty do you have to be to cringe at that Sad

SaltySalt · 08/06/2017 19:55

I used to see male twins pensioners. Dressed the same tweed jacket flat cap and a shirt grey moustache. They walked their dog together for years and years. Then one day there was only one of them 😔 I was devastated for him.

QueenofEsgaroth · 08/06/2017 19:56

Haven't seen a unanimous thread in a while Grin

Cornettoninja · 08/06/2017 20:01

If they're living together it's very sensible for a washing point of view.

I genuinely don't think I've ever cringed over something someone has worn ???? I have definitely judged inappropriate outfits as cold/uncomfortable/ill-advised but cringing isn't something I really associate with clothes.

salty Sad

DJBaggySmalls · 08/06/2017 20:01

Oh thats sweet. I've always wondered what its like to be that close to another person.

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 08/06/2017 20:01

Ah bless them both x

Floggingmolly · 08/06/2017 20:01

I think it sounds sweet. How lovely it must be to have a whole other version of yourself to keep you company. Especially as an old lady.

TheLittleShirt · 08/06/2017 20:02

Thank you for all of your comments I do feel awful that I may have misjudged them my bad, I just thought it was unusual perhaps cringey was the wrong word.
purplemac no not Maidstone.
I am normally one to defend people's right to wear what they choose I just thought it unusual to do it every day.
