To ask what your wackiest belief is?

I got involved in Buddhism in my early twenties and some things have resonated/ stayed with me.

I really can't help but believe in rebirth (obviously with no evidence)

My mum died last year when I was pregnant and my sister and I have both thought about her a lot today.

I really think she's been reborn as a human (9 month gestation could have taken place)

My own baby (5 mo) I can't help thinking that she is being grieved for by people who knew her in her previous life and I want to tell them that she has a lot of love and a lovely life!

What are your wacky beliefs that you'd never tell anyone in rl because they'd be too weird for people?

I don't really have any.
I was sent to Sunday school as a child and none of it made any sense.
I'm one of those people who needs hard facts to believe something. If I don't then I can't invest in it. Like god, ghosts or the Tory party.

There's a robin that sits every morning on the bench in the garden and 'watches' me in the kitchen every morning.
When I leave the house he follows me (from the hedge) to my car, then flies along side my car until I'm off the drive then he goes back to the garden.
I'm 100% convinced it's my nan or my uncle!
I'd share some photos but they are all on my computer on my phone in bed and am not moving! I'll post tomorrow evening!

I'm a scientisty type and a firm aethiest BUT I believe in drawing down the moon.

This embarrasses me and yet pleases me. I can hold two entirely opposing views, no problem!

I believe in reincarnation... but I don't believe it's linear. So for example, you could reincarnate into the past, or even the present, not just the future.

On a darker note, I believe I am my father reincarnated, and that my childhood abuse at his hands is the karma I received for having been him in a previous life and dishing it out.

For obvious reasons, I can never say this out loud. But I believe it. I think it's the only thing that I find comforting in an odd way, because the only universe that makes sense to me is one where things happen for a reason... and the only reason something so evil could happen to me is... well, you can follow my train of thinking from there.

A universe where things happen randomly (although quite possible, I concede) is terrifying to me.

I am really sorry to hear this. Can you get some counselling. You are not your father and it was not your fault. I would suggest your feelings are, as you say, about making sense of it all. Maybe somehow transferred guilt that you may feel what happened to you was your fault. It was not, in any which way at all, ever, your fault.

I understand a random world is terrifying but I think with counselling you may get to a place of finding peace.

My wacky belief is that justice will prevail. I like to believe it.

It is none of my business, I know you say it is a belief but I hope you will not 'burden' your child with the idea they are your long lost parent. It seems only fair each person have their own soul, which is one reason why I do not believe in reincarnation.

Definitely won't be burdening her with my weird beliefs my parents didn't do that to me.

Some beliefs are helpful and sims can be harsh. I suppose it's a choice.

Robins here too....

Not quite on the same lines as you OP, but I have a true, unfaltering faith that everything will work out perfectly in time. I can't talk about it with people in real life as it almost feels like bragging or as though I'm completely crazy. I know that whatever happens will have a direct consequence that also has a purpose and a reaction that causes me to do something else for a particular reason and so on and so on. It's almost in the same way that religious people believe in "God's plan", but instead I believe in simply "the plan" wholeheartedly.

I have 'believed' since I was 18 years old. It started when my depression lifted, and I can pinpoint the exact day my mindset changed and I suddenly believed in what I can only describe as the power of the universe.

A lot of people say "it'll all work out in the end" but I think few believe and trust in it like I do.

cupthejunction sorry, 'burden' was maybe the wrong word.

Maybe it is the idea to me that a person comes with some sort of previous life, and that seems strange to me, but hen you do ask about wacky. In some religions that is standard. But I wonder if they would also take the step of thinking the person could be someone they once knew?

I like to think that my husband who died in 2012 is looking down on me and our daughter .
Who knows if he is or not?
It's just something that I like to think.

patricia that sounds like a huge burden to carry around. IMO it's your way of trying to make sense of why you were abused. I was abused too, so I understand

Italiangreyhound Thank you for your thoughtful comment. But I don't find my belief distressing, it is the conclusion I arrived at that finally brought me peace. I don't see it as fault-finding so much as a much more indifferent: "x leads to y", and it spares me the horror of facing a random universe.

So if there are no robins where you live... you're just not special enough to be visited by deceased loved ones? Or do you have a puffin spirit? A condor?

My great Auntie had a Robin start visiting her. Then when my cousin died there were two waiting most mornings.

It brought her a lot of happiness and peace.

I believe that mum is now a rainbow.
I saw a rainbow on the morning of the day she passed, even though. There was no mix of rain and sun. I can't work it out either, but I swear I saw it.
My mum loved rainbows.
Her favorite song was somewhere over the rainbow. Which incidentally was playing very low in the back ground after the Doctor had pronounced her dead and let's us back in to see her.
The feeling of peace I felt in that room, was. Well no words will do it justice. It seems crazy to say it about a time when my beautiful mum passed, but I just wish I could bottle up that feeling of peace and love.
My dd also said she had the same feeling as well. She said. It was as if for a few seconds. We were both dead too, so. If that's a fraction of heaven. I'm no longer afraid of death.

PatriciaBateman I certainly do not want to disturb any thoughts that make your situation more bearable. I have no idea what you have been through. But I have had some counselling for anxiety, CBT, and I found it very helpful. Whatever makes life easier for you. You deserve to find peace.
