I got involved in Buddhism in my early twenties and some things have resonated/ stayed with me.

I really can't help but believe in rebirth (obviously with no evidence)

My mum died last year when I was pregnant and my sister and I have both thought about her a lot today.

I really think she's been reborn as a human (9 month gestation could have taken place)

My own baby (5 mo) I can't help thinking that she is being grieved for by people who knew her in her previous life and I want to tell them that she has a lot of love and a lovely life!

What are your wacky beliefs that you'd never tell anyone in rl because they'd be too weird for people?

I also believe in reincarnation, ghosts and many other things besides. Also have a robin in the garden that keeps very close and appears constantly. I have wondered if it is my father. I do believe the dead can take many forms to revisit us and sometimes bring comfort. To me none of this is wacky, but I wouldn't talk about it to most people. I also believe in Angels...

phoenixtherabbit · 11/06/2017 20:39

Oh and ive had dreams about things happening and when ive woke. Up and watched the news something similar has happened. I got incredibly upset last time this happened because I don't want that 'gift' if that's what it is. It shit me up.

Composteleana · 11/06/2017 20:47

I'm not religious and don't believe in afterlife, psychics, woo stuff etc GENERALLY.

But my mum who died 5 years ago sends me white feathers Smile. It doesn't make sense for me to believe that, given the above, but it happens. It happened recently, I'd been desperately looking for a new job and getting down about it, on the day I went for my interview there was a white feather in a place it wouldn't make sense for it to be. I got the job. There's lots of other examples, like when I was telling my aunt and a friend about it, we were in aunt's car and aunt and friend were looking at me like 'ahhh that's sweet but bullshit' and at that moment a white feather drifted down and landed on the car bonnet.

I say 'well I don't really believe it, it's just comforting, but I kind of think I do!

I believe in aliens. I mean there are billions of different solar systems and planets in the universe that I find it complete arrogance that people can think this can be the only possible planet that is inhabited. However I don't think they have ever visited earth and I don't think we will ever visit their planets, but I do think they are out there.

derxa · 11/06/2017 20:51

I believe I am Scarlett O'Hara. I have done things she did. Tomorrow is another day.

oobidobidooooo · 11/06/2017 20:55

My next door neighbour died last year and our cat who previously never wanted anything to do with us now wants everything to do with us and is in the house all the time. I believe my neighbour is talking to us through the cat.

Bizarre

n0ne · 11/06/2017 20:59

I 'knew' what DD would look like before I saw her. I'm really mixed, racially, so my kids could look any number of ways, but I've always known how she would look.

When I was 15 I knew this woman who had a mixed daughter, and she had this particular dirty blonde hair, tanned skin and blue eyes, and I knew my kid would come out like that (despite not knowing what race their dad would be). 18 years later, I was proved right!

KrayKray00 · 11/06/2017 21:00

What a great thread I have really enjoyed reading all the comments!

I am not religious. Yet I pray to God every night to thank him for everything I have. It has gone said in a certain way just before I go to sleep, and If I say any of it wrong I have to start again because if I don't say it right or even say it at all then bad things will and do start to happen.

I believe in ghosts. I grew up in a house which had them, it got to the point where my mom got someone to "cleanse the house" as it started to physically harm us. It sounds crazy writing that but it is absolutely true. I was pushed down the stairs, my Nan got red marks on her legs when she stayed the night and thought my little sister came in and jumped on her bed, but my sister didn't leave her room that night. All very odd and strange things. However nothing happened once the house was "cleansed" but I do now have this feeling when I think something is haunted or there is spiritual activity. I knew my old house had a ghost but the one I live in now has non.

And the weirdest thing which I might get the typical eye roll at is that I believe in New World Order and the Illuminati. I love reading about it, and I do believe there are people behind the scenes who are in control of the government and it is all to do with money and power not our best interests and I do think they are very dark and powerful people who get away with the most evil crimes. We are sheeple and our lives are control to a certain extent by this and them.

Right I'm off for a lie down. I feel like I right loon now 😆

Jellykat · 11/06/2017 21:01

I have a theory that Robins have human souls reincarnated in them. This is because they like to wander into peoples houses, and of all birds, they come the closest to humans.

What other reason could there possibly be?

PurpleNurple69 · 11/06/2017 21:49

I'm an alien believer like User987. All those galaxies, stars and planets and we're the only planer with intelligent life? Please. All those UFO sightings - there's definitely something going on.

I also believe in time travel.

But I never tell people any of this outside of my immediate family!

NorthStarAtMyFeet · 11/06/2017 22:11

Are you able to elaborate on time travel please purple?

ollieplimsoles · 11/06/2017 22:28

In the wild, British robins have evolved a habit of following larger animals around because they disturb the earth and dig up food for them like worms and other bugs. They have likely caught on that humans offer the same rewards, so appear tame towards us.

Blackbirds have similar habits, I have one that knows I throw bread out every morning for it, now it waits on my fence and will even hop into my house for food.

fartypantsmummy · 11/06/2017 22:30

I believe that hares are a reincarnation of people I've lost. Every time i see one I feel like they've come to let me know that they are OK.

hollieberrie · 11/06/2017 23:00

KrayKray I believe in the Illuminati too. And a lot of conspiracies to do with them - that many events the public believe to be real were actually staged by them. I find it fascinating.

Runny · 12/06/2017 09:32

I'm not so sure about an illuminati, but I think there is obviously an establishment that tries to influence how people think. It tried to keep us ordinary folk in our 'place'.

hackmum · 12/06/2017 09:36

I know someone who is terminally ill and she believes firmly that she is going to be reincarnated. She is quite upbeat about it all.

I don't really have many ridiculous beliefs, except for a very strong attachment to not tempting fate. I always touch wood if I predict something turning out well. It's completely irrational, I know.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/06/2017 09:55

When I was young there were a couple of occassions when I "knew" I'd be in the same situation but as the other person involved.

For example, I remember is talking to an elderly woman when I was about 8. I had this strange feeling at the time that one day I'd be that old woman in the same situation, talking to that young girl. And that when it happened I'd recognise the situation, but it wouldn't be something I'd go looking for.

No idea if this makes sense to anyone. Have just realised it's very hard to explain even though it makes perfect sense to me!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 12/06/2017 10:08

Also, like PPs, I know things which I'm not meant to.

  1. I used to be able to read my mum's mind both as a young child and again as a teenager. It freaked her out. I would voice the thoughts that were going through her head, despite them having no connection to what was happening at that moment. My mother would rather not believe in things like that, but I did it far too often for it to be mere coincidence.

  2. There have been other instances connected to other people where I've had a sudden, physical (as in, my body reacts) knowledge about something. The worst was when, looking at a friend's house, I knew he had committed suicide. There was absolutely nothing about the house to say he wasn't still living there, but a month later a mutual acquaintance told me what had happened.

There were also a few of times with my now DP but at the time I barely knew him, like when I saw him go off to a party and had this horrible feeling something awful was going to happen, and he turned up at mine in the early hours of the morning, utterly distraught.

Runny · 12/06/2017 12:04

If we're talking 'woo' stuff, then I'm convinced that Ive lived before. I can't explain it, but it's always been there. Ive always been terrified of fire, and being trapped in a burning building is my worst nightmare. it was especially bad when I was a child, I would wake up in the night convinced I could smell burning and see smoke. Id run around checking plugs and light switches etc. I had no reason to be like this, as Ive never been in a fire or known anyone who has.

73kittycat73 · 12/06/2017 18:37

I think cats are psychic. I think my cat can read my thoughts. Blush I feel bad as she is a very vocal and demanding cat and sometimes I just wish she'd go away and leave me alone for a while. Then I feel guilty in case she 'heard' me thinking it. Confused

BBTHREE76 · 12/06/2017 19:49

I "saw" my Dad, sat at the end of my bed saying hello and checking up on me when I was ill. I was 15 and my Dad had passed away when I was 13. It didn't scare me in the slightest as it was my Dad.

Fast forward to my DD, who was about 3 at the time telling me she has seen Grandad in the curtains. I say Grandad Xxx or Grandad Xxx? (my DHs grandads), and she says nooooo Grandad the sailor in the picture. It was my Dad! Again she wasn't in the slightest bit scared or bothered, it was just normal that my Dad was there, even though she had never met him and don't think I had talked about him, other than a picture on my Mums wall.
Less dramatically, all my family believe that if two of you spot a magpie then the bad luck goes away. A conservation in the car goes like this....
Blah blah blah - "magpie!" blah blah - "seen it!" Blah blah blah blah "magpie!". Blah "seen it!"

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 12/06/2017 20:06

Was it a glorious moment, BBT.
I wish I could see my mum again
It'd get me through the next 40 years. If I've got that long.
We meet up a lot in my dreams though, so. I guess that's, by far the next best thing.

BBTHREE76 · 12/06/2017 20:41

Aww look at my - it was lovely. It seemed so so normal that I saw my Dad and it's lovely that my DD had the same experience. My DD was incredibly close to my Mum who passed away when DD was 7. She was heartbroken and whilst she said she can feel my Mum sometimes she hasn't seen her. I really hope it happens for her and me, but equally I know I am blessed for it have happened with my Dad for both of us.

TakeThatFuckingDressOffNow · 12/06/2017 22:15

LOVE this thread!!!!

Blimey so many

Believe in reincarnation - sort of...
You have changed my life with the two people see a magpie thing. My life is spent saluting.

100% think grandma is looking over and doing a lot of practical stuff behind the scenes to help where she can. Always thank her.

Astrology - yes believe in a lot of this, wouldn't admit it though

As for the poster who talked about parallel lives - so so true. The multiverse is the best theory Physics can come up with!

I used to have this recurring dream about this big house overlooking a hill with lots of green and trees. I believe. I'll end up there one day in this life or the next

Aliens - oh good Lord yes in the billions of galaxies in our one universe of many or course

Angels yep

Psychics yes - but I don't have any direct experience of one

Also in my family we visit our great aunts grave when someone needs a new job, they visit and people get a new job or more work that week!

Cosmic ordering - sort of

NorthStarAtMyFeet · 14/06/2017 17:06

Oh astral projection I also believe in
