To ask what your wackiest belief is?

I got involved in Buddhism in my early twenties and some things have resonated/ stayed with me.

I really can't help but believe in rebirth (obviously with no evidence)

My mum died last year when I was pregnant and my sister and I have both thought about her a lot today.

I really think she's been reborn as a human (9 month gestation could have taken place)

My own baby (5 mo) I can't help thinking that she is being grieved for by people who knew her in her previous life and I want to tell them that she has a lot of love and a lovely life!

What are your wacky beliefs that you'd never tell anyone in rl because they'd be too weird for people?

Erinaceous lololol at feeling guilty about ticking the captcha box!

AramintaJolly · 08/06/2017 17:04

Fidoanacupoftea you must see the film A dog's Purpose - that's basically the plot!

SquidgeyMidgey · 08/06/2017 17:12

Nothing batshit here, it's all black, white and straight down the line.

DH believes in some superstitious crap like not using the washing machine on new years day. I washed some towels a few years ago and my dad died unexpectedly that year. He never quite got over that.

ClumsyFool · 08/06/2017 21:27

Mine is light hearted and also batshit in that it's clearly a load of crap but I still can't bring myself to go against it Blush

I love football and prefer to record a game and watch it later because then I can relax as I can't affect the result by jinxing it. A match can be jinxed in a variety of ways by the way. This is also something I get annoyed at my DH for, if he risks saying something 'jinxy' i.e., "they've got this wrapped up, they can't lose it now" etc. If I record it and watch it later than neither of us can jinx it as it's already happened Grin.

I actually admit this out loud to DH and he regularly looks like this Hmm but somehow still sticks around against his better judgement, although he may well be secretly plotting how to cart me off in a stiff white coat. I meanwhile have embraced the crazy and don't care!

cupthejunction · 08/06/2017 21:28

Loving these :)
Thanks for sharing, I feel less weird now!

Not so much a belief I hold now, but when I was a teenager I was involved with the Order of the Knights of the Round Table, a theosophist society group for children. We had to wear white robes, coloured collar depending on your rank, and join in a circle with incense and swear allegiance to King Arthur. It was good fun and we went on camps, but my younger sister and my son like to tease me that it was a cult. It isn't.

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 08/06/2017 21:39

There's a baby waiting room. Their souls choose their mum.
I believe in reincarnation. I think that's why some people are vegetarian.
I believe in ghosts. I've seen them. I get feelings about things and places.

mrsBeverleygoldberg · 08/06/2017 21:45

Araminta that's true about the moon and strong wind. I used to be a teacher and the children were definitely hyper both times.

Want2beme · 08/06/2017 21:52

When my LTR ended last year, my aunt, who's a born again Christian, suggested that I hand over all my troubles to God. I had nothing more to lose at the time, so I did exactly that. Each time I was anxious, which was most of the time, I said a prayer and handed over my anxieties. Doing this helped me cope and come through the other side. A year and a half later I still say a prayer every day. I think the praying helps me to concentrate my mind, but I can't fully explain how it works. I know that saying prayers isn't necessarily wacky, but the results have really surprised me.

TheZeppo · 08/06/2017 21:55

This is ridiculous, but very comforting.

I've had 2 miscarriages over the years. I adopted 2 little cuties this year (kittens) and I like to believe they have the spirit of my children, if you see what I mean.

One is much larger, a boy, playful but loves a cuddle when tired.
The other is a girl. She is VERY affectionate. Never leaves my side,

It's hard to explain, but in the past I 'knew' what each of my children would have been like, and these let's seem to epitomise that.

Highmaintenancefemalestuff · 08/06/2017 22:09

Full moon - I too believe it affects people. I seem to get very down in the dumps, angry, snappy and just can not sleep.
I always point it out to dh and say 'that explains the lack of sleep and mood swings.'

EmilyBiscuit · 08/06/2017 23:04

I can't kill spiders in the house because I worry that if I do all the other spiders will plot against me and at some unknown time in the future overwhelm me by sheer number and I will die by suffocation.

I'm also convinced I will die at the age of 56. I don't know why and I'm not sure when I started to believe it. But I am determined to do everything I want to do by the age of 56.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 08/06/2017 23:09

Talking of spiders, I am convinced that where there is one, there is always another one, so if we see one I make DH search for its twin and kill it before I can stop feeling on edge.

Raggydolly3 · 08/06/2017 23:38

There is a funny looking pylon were I used to live and when I was a little girl I gave it a name. We go past it a few times a year and I always say hello.

Jupitar · 09/06/2017 00:19

ClumsyFool
😂 I'm convinced I affect prof footie games too, ive never ever seen England win, my son supports Man U, ive never seen them win either, guaranteed, that no matter how well they're playin or what the score is, once I start watching they'll start losing 🙄

DioneTheDiabolist · 09/06/2017 01:24

Has anyone seen that video that's come out making a woman think her child was reborn into a robin? Her 4yo son has died and she's at his grave and asks for a sign and a robin lands on his head stone and she puts her hand out and it flies right over. Lovely video

TheBusThatCouldntSlowDown · 09/06/2017 11:15

Jupitar I never watch Man United games now for that reason. Every time I watched them they won, which was bad for me because I hate them.

Nymerialuna · 09/06/2017 19:36

I deffinitely believe in spirits and have had family members that have passed visit me. My nan often visits and tells me that I have missed bits when cleaning!
I am also firm believer in karma.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 09/06/2017 19:43

Yeti, ok maybe not exactly the Yeti but I think there is a chance for an undiscovered primate species out there.

Fauchelevent · 09/06/2017 19:55

Sometimes I'm crazy enough to believe other people think I'm beautiful. Grin

I have OCD, it's been much worse but the contamination fears are next level irrational. So i believe that some contaminations from every day objects other people deem clean like bananas cannot be cured by washing your hands. Hmm logically i know this is batshit.

On the positive side, I agree with PP. I truly believe things turn out alright in the end... for everyone except Billie Holliday. On a general level, you do tend to come out the other end of super heavy tough shit. I would know. Every dark place I've been in, and they are some very dark places, I have survived. I'm in one now and getting through it by knowing that I survived all the other dark times.

I uhh, I'm also interested in brujeria. My Caribbean grandma was into some wild wild bruja practices, which stretched to also firmly believing in mermaids and refusing to believe she did not see a mermaid. I just have the curiosity.

oldfatandstressed · 09/06/2017 19:57

I believe that lives that are ended too soon, at the wrong time because of freak accidents, come back to complete their time, and that is why people have miscarriages and why children die so young... They're finishing their allotted time. I am a Christian and I know that the Bible wholeheartedly disagrees with this notion!

PencilsInSpace · 09/06/2017 20:21

Crop circles Grin (I have an irrational belief that some are not made by humans).

I know a huge number were made by doug and dave, I know a lot of commercial companies used them for ad campaigns, I know there are loads of bored maths students for whom this is their idea of fun, but still ...

Not all are easily explained. I don't actually care that much if every sigle crop circle turned out to have a logical explanation. They're like rainbows - they make you smile anyway Smile
