and i have to drive so that dp's dad can have a drink. it doesnt seem to matter that it would be quite nice if i could have a glass of wine with my meal but nobody bothered to think about that

Doesn't sound unreasonable to me. What is wrong with these people?!! (sorry, not having a great day myself!!)

princessmelon · 18/03/2007 11:05

Well we're not doing anything. dh has been at work and we have no plans to do anything else. dh doesn't want to. [sulk]

Just enjoy your meal even though it is a bit of a cheek.

starshaker · 18/03/2007 11:08

i have had to drive when its my birthday, christmas, new year etc i never get a chance to have a meal and a glass of wine. im having a really crappy day and i havent even got a card

OP posts:
trillium · 18/03/2007 11:09

Why can't dp drive?

VioletBaudelaire · 18/03/2007 11:09

get a taxi and split the cost between you.

starshaker · 18/03/2007 11:10

just because he cant drive and has no interest in learning. why would they pay for a taxi when thats what i am

OP posts:
starshaker · 18/03/2007 11:11

i shouldnt moan after all i am getting the PRIVAILAGE of not having to drive my own car

OP posts:
VioletBaudelaire · 18/03/2007 11:11

well they'll have to if you say you would like a drink, won't they?

BigHotMama · 18/03/2007 11:13

gigglinggoblin · 18/03/2007 11:13

starshaker · 18/03/2007 11:13

OP posts:
starshaker · 18/03/2007 11:15

OP posts:
VioletBaudelaire · 18/03/2007 11:15

get a take away and a couple of bottles of wine instead?

Fillyjonk · 18/03/2007 11:20

why do you have to drive?

can't you say f off?

Songbird · 18/03/2007 11:21

Why choose - effing men!

At least you're going out! 'D'h is in Cardiff having had a boys weekend watching the rubgy (in the pub, he didn't have tickets!). But then, he's been having a shitty time at work and needs a break ... but why this weekend? He will be back later today and he's got tomorrow off work (to 'recover' though, not to spend time with me and dd!). At least I didn't have to have rugby on ALL DAY yesterday which would have been the case if he'd been here. Where are those silver linings?

Songbird · 18/03/2007 11:22

I meant why choose who to be pissed off with .

starshaker · 18/03/2007 11:33

very true ill be pissed off with them both and when dps dad says would u like a drink ill say i cant IM DRIVING. or i could always down a bottle of wine as soon as i get there and then he would have to drive

OP posts:
tribpot · 18/03/2007 11:45

So you have to drive dp's dad's car for him? In what sense is this a meal out "for mothers' day"?

Fillyjonk · 18/03/2007 11:51

ss

why are you hinting here?

i would just say "no, f off, it is mothers day, you drive"

can't you just do that?

Fillyjonk · 18/03/2007 11:51

or better still

your dp says "no dad, f off, its mothers day"

BandofMothers · 18/03/2007 11:59

VERY cheeky if you ask me. Tell them since it's mother's day you'd FOR ONCE like a glass of wine, so you'd be happy to drive there, but fil will have to wait until he gets home. Who made him KING of the F*g world. And if your DH doesn't like it then look him in the eye with "the" look and say, "Well if it's a problem, matey boyo (they hate that) then you'd better learn to drive, hadn't you!!"

Sorry, am actually having a good day so far, but shit like this makes me SO
Why do men assume they should be put before women!!! Just been on a thread about the most selfish, bullying man in the world and am ANGRY!!!!

Hope you have a lovely meal, and really hope you tell them what for.

anorak · 18/03/2007 12:03

Trouble is that if you have to make such a fuss you won't enjoy it anyway. They are being incredibly selfish.

I think if it were me I wouldn't go. I'd tell them I was going out on my own, and I would do so.

BandofMothers · 18/03/2007 12:05

Ooh, I think you're onto something there anorak. Go out on your own, in YOUR car. ROFL
Then they'll be very

zippitippitoes · 18/03/2007 12:05

jus t ask for an alternative date with dp when you both have a romantic meal drink and pref hotel

starshaker · 18/03/2007 12:06
