To dislike people condemning adults having fun

brasty · 13/05/2017 19:51

What I mean by this is those who condemn adults having fun without children. For example, condemning a group of adults making a big deal out of Christmas when there are no kids involved. Or condemning adults enjoying theme parks with no teenagers in tow. Or condemning adults enjoying Disneyland with no kids.

I am not personally into all of the activities I have named, but you don't need kids with you to enjoy yourself. If adults enjoy these kind of things, then let them enjoy them and don't look down your nose at them.

YANBU

Totally agree. I don't really get the Disney thing, but its not for me to get, is it? If they like it, what is it to anyone else?

The idea that you can't do fun shit because you;re over a certain age; fuck that for a lark.

StickThatInYourPipe · 13/05/2017 19:53

I love all those things! YANBU

CrispyBathTowel · 13/05/2017 19:55

I've never come across anyone who does condemn adults for this. Where did you encounter this?

I find people who start a Christmas countdown in February mildly tiresome but I just pay no attention and the ones I know that do it have children so it's irrelevant to me if they have kids or not.

HildaOg · 13/05/2017 19:55

Some people will complain about anything... The weather too cold/hot/wet/dry. The car you're driving is too new/old/cheap/expensive. You're a terrible mother because you work/stay at home. You're a disgrace for being a single parent, even worse for dating.

The same people will complain about adults having fun because it's something to complain about. They'll also complain if you bring your kids anywhere.

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2017 19:56

I silently judge. Grin But each to their own.

brasty · 13/05/2017 19:57

I'd love to see some examples of the judging OP.

SunshineDeLaSoul · 13/05/2017 19:59

Is this about the birthday thread? A TAAT?

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2017 19:59

Is this a TAAT ie the adult birthday one?

redexpat · 13/05/2017 19:59

Add jumping on a trampoline to that list.

Miserable fuckers.

brasty · 13/05/2017 19:59

No I haven't seen that one Sunshine. This is based on lots and lots of threads on MN

Grin sparkles

PhoenixJasmine · 13/05/2017 20:00

Condemn? In what way? Condemn to what? That's quite a strong term!

I have never seen anyone say that kind of thing and I am on here a lot!

So I will say YWNBU if it were true. Which I don't think it is.

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2017 20:01

Everyone's idea of fun for adults is different.

Biscusting · 13/05/2017 20:01

I've never known anyone to judge this behaviour, but if I did I would assume they were jealous.

I'd fucking love to go a theme park sans kids with DH and get pissed.

MissionItsPossible · 13/05/2017 20:02

Well sparkling has admitted to it (albeit silently Grin) so that's at least one example

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2017 20:03
Grin
Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2017 20:03

Oh and I am not in the least bit jealous. I have been to Disney. Never , ever again. Theme parks-meh.

brasty · 13/05/2017 20:08

I am not bothered about theme parks either. But xmas, trampolining and other stuff that is seen for kids, I love. I even like going into Hamleys, but ONLY if without kids.

OP posts:
SunshineDeLaSoul · 13/05/2017 20:09

I'm not jealous, I just think it's a bit odd. I hated Disney, even with kids. A day at a theme park would be my idea of hell.

FizzyGreenWater · 13/05/2017 20:14

We could all do with a lot more folk appreciating that it's nice to have good clean innocent fun and it's a damn sight better than moaning, or selling arms to Saudi Arabia or parking over people's driveways or bombing Syria or being nasty about people giving their children names beginning with K.

SO THERE.

PicardsCombOver · 13/05/2017 20:18

Id rather be in Hamleys alone. My boy never gets excited and I'm like a Mexican bean. He actually says 'Yesss Mummy' like I require patience HmmGrin
Poopoo to the spoilsports.

Fragglez · 13/05/2017 20:19

I read a magazine article a few years ago about a soft play centre that did adult only sessions - sounded awesome!

histinyhandsarefrozen · 13/05/2017 20:19

I judge on Mumsnet but I wouldn't do it in real-life.

Yes, I find adults who go to Disney without kids moronic. No, I'm not jealous. Grin
