Across, I love that saying of your DF's. We have a similar saying in Scotland (made famous by a comedy sketch show) - Mibbies aye, mibbies naw. Grin means pretty much the same as your dad's saying!

Who knew there was an ocean between us eh? Grin

You misunderstand. I'm a big fan of pithy quotes. I want to understand them properly so I can start using them.

The heart/mouth one I think means that people will always reveal what's really important to them because however much they try to conceal it, the stuff that shapes their thinking slips out/shows in what they say.

The hope for breakfast one means it's good to be hopeful at the start of a project or journey (breakfast) but it's bad near the end (supper) because its either too late for the change/success to happen or you are deluded/not being honest with yourself about how well you are doing or the likelihood of success.

How did I do?

cozietoesie · 09/05/2017 19:43

There you go. Grin

I was contemplating a NC but discovered it's too much - I just love this from the last thread 'the undeveloped space between his [trump's] ears'. Not exactly snappy but it's got gravitas I think. Pity it's too many charactersSad

cozietoesie · 09/05/2017 19:56

How about 'Brown Site'? Grin

PlectrumElectrum · 09/05/2017 20:01

Tempting, but not trump-trashing enough Grin

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 09/05/2017 20:07

What about 'Donniestinywiener'?

Lweji · 09/05/2017 20:09

Patriot Barbie has

been on the road trying to find solutions to opioid abuse.

Perhaps she starts talking and drug addicts get fooled into thinking they're tripping.

Take out the 'His'?

TrumpsUndevelopedSpaceBtwnEars · 09/05/2017 20:15

Taking 'his' out left me too long still. I've had to go with text-speak to change.

You like? Or is the txtspk just a no?

PerkingFaintly · 09/05/2017 20:17

I like.Grin

A compromise, but needs must!

It's a keeper then! All your feedback is appreciated... Grin

I have to confess that I used the word 'Bigly' the other day. (I may even have said 'very bigly' Blush)

Not one of the youngsters even blenched. Grin

Re health care - contraception and abortion.

I struggle to understand the mindset of the religious anti-choice brigade in the USA and their grip on mainstream politics.

One of the things I struggle with most, is the fact that those who are anti abortion mostly seem to be anti contraception and anti sex education, don't want contraception covered by health care.

My mind boggles. It me it's logical that if you want to reduce abortions (I'm pro choice), then you educate people and make sure they have excellent access to contraception and women's health care (preferably free).

TrumpsUndevelopedSpaceBtwnEars · 09/05/2017 20:27

I totally agree AndHoldTheBun - isn't that why some alt-right 'darling' has been sacked from some alt-right/GOP frothing radio network/cable to show? I'll need to google it to find names that make my post make some sense...Grin

TrumpsUndevelopedSpaceBtwnEars · 09/05/2017 20:32

Toni Lahern from The Blaze. That's the one who said she was pro-choice but anti-government interference. And was sacked because she said 'I’m pro-choice, and here’s why: I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for a limited government, but I think that the government should decide what women do with their bodies,” she said. Lahren later added, “stay out of my guns and you can stay out of my body as well.'

Fact-Checker piece from Washington Post about rape as a pre-existing condition for healthcare insurance.

Despite critics’ claims, the GOP health bill doesn’t classify rape or sexual assault as a preexisting condition
www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2017/05/06/no-the-gop-health-bill-doesnt-classify-rape-or-sexual-assault-as-a-preexisting-condition/?tid=pm_politics_pop&utm_term=.ac04db3d09e0

The article is quite complex, but IIUC is saying that because of overlapping laws about discrimination, it's unlikely a rape survivor would be denied insurance coverage or have rape considered a pre-existing condition, except in up to 5 states.

Not exactly the full reassurance one would like to hear,Hmm but not as bad as rape always = restrictions on healthcare.

It me it's logical that if you want to reduce abortions (I'm pro choice), then you educate people and make sure they have excellent access to contraception and women's health care (preferably free).

Their logic is that women should not be having sex before they are married and once they are married their only purpose is to look after their husbands and have babies. Rape only happens to bad women who deserve it obviously. There is therefore no need for contraception, abortion or any real discussion about sex at all. There is logic there, it is just a horrific, misogynistic and repressive logic. Angry

BiglyBadgers · 09/05/2017 20:50

I remember see that trumps. She was sacked because she forgot that the American right is the American christian right and has never been in favour of women having a day on anything. That is reserved only for white men.

BiglyBadgers · 09/05/2017 20:50

Day = say

cozietoesie · 09/05/2017 20:56

Thanks, Perking. That's a complicated article sure enough. My concern is that 'unlikely' is not the same as 'impossible'. Particularly in the current climate. I'd like to see how things pan out. (And to see the CBO analysis.)

Natsku · 09/05/2017 21:20

Completely irrelevant but nice piece of news in these days - there's a protest camp in Helsinki run by 'Finland First' activists (i.e. the Finnish Alt-Right) who were abusive to the street sweepers cleaning up around their camp, those sweepers often being immigrants as its a job easily available to immigrants - the company then told the street sweepers that they don't have to clean up around that protest camp and now those Alt-Right losers have to clean up their own mess Grin

cozietoesie · 09/05/2017 21:23

I trust that they'll do so, Natsku. Nice story. Smile
