to wear leather when meeting a vegetarian?

My office is a casual office and people wear leather jackets. My friend, who sits in the next cubicle and with whom I go out for lunch sometimes, is a vegetarian.

AIBU to wear a leather jacket?

Why hold back? Wear a neckless of sausages as well.

DJBaggySmalls · 01/05/2017 23:01

Are your shoes and handbag vegan as well? Just wear what you would normally wear, dont sweat it.

Ladyformation · 01/05/2017 23:01

I'm a vegetarian and I often wear a leather jacket. You're fine.

MommaGee · 01/05/2017 23:01

Well there's a reasonable chance you already west leather shoes around her

QueenMortificado · 01/05/2017 23:02

I'd wear Lady Gaga's meat dress and see if she notices

LilacSpatula · 01/05/2017 23:02

Er...no. Unless you are planning on adopting everyone's life choices?

sadeyedladyofthelowlands63 · 01/05/2017 23:03

I'm a vegetarian - there is zero chance I would notice what you are wearing.

MysweetAudrina · 01/05/2017 23:03

Do you eat vegetarian at lunch? Anyway vegetarians wear leather don't they and eat dairy products. Thought it was vegans that went the whole hog.

Iggii · 01/05/2017 23:03

Presumably when you lunch with her you eat meat?

SexlessinSeattle · 01/05/2017 23:03

She's vegetarian because of religion. I just don't want to offend her as she's a very good friend. Great that it doesn't seem offensive based on the replies :)

PurpleDaisies · 01/05/2017 23:04

It's fine. I'm guessing you'd eat meat at lunch with them?

SexlessinSeattle · 01/05/2017 23:04

Iggii

No, we go to a vegetarian restaurant.

AdoraBell · 01/05/2017 23:05

No U at all. Has she said something about it?

PurpleDaisies · 01/05/2017 23:05

I do t know any vegetarians who are offended by other people eating meat around them.

Vroomster · 01/05/2017 23:06

Thought it was vegans that went the whole hog.

😂

Elphame · 01/05/2017 23:06

I'm vegetarian and wouldn't be offended. If it was a nice jacket I'd probably compliment you on it!

ThatsWotSheSaid · 01/05/2017 23:06

I'm a vegetarian and I'd be more offended if you felt I was judging what you wear/eat than I would be at the sight of leather. You'd have to be pretty far up your own ass to be offended by clothing IMO.

SexlessinSeattle · 01/05/2017 23:08

Has she said something about it?

No. I haven't worn it. I just want to make sure it's not offensive.

LaContessaDiPlump · 01/05/2017 23:09

I doubt that she will mind, as surely there will be a lot of other people in your workplace in leather shoes. It is nice of you to consider her feelings though Smile

ShatnersBassoon · 01/05/2017 23:09

Ask her if it's likely to disgust her. She's your friend, it isn't going to be weird to say it.

RestlessTraveller · 01/05/2017 23:26

No! You must weave a sackcloth out of lentils immediately.

WorraLiberty · 01/05/2017 23:28

Fuck sake

Seriously? Hmm

Actually laughing out loud here but I'm not sure if it's with you, or at you Grin Grin Grin

HirplesWithHaggis · 01/05/2017 23:32

I used to have a vegan colleague. She didn't like me.

I suppose it might have been down to my full-leather motorcycle gear, but I couldn't afford the armoured alternatives, and she wasn't offering to pay...

TellMeItsNotTrue · 01/05/2017 23:32

No offensive to me, and it also wouldn't bother me if you ordered meat (I wouldn't insist on a vegetarian restaurant every time but it would be nice sometimes)

As long as you don't try to change my views then I won't try to change yours

SexlessinSeattle · 01/05/2017 23:34

Ok, I'm glad I'm able to have made you happy.
