I have texted Ian, the lovely bailiff, and told him that he has a MumsNet fan club. He sends his love and has directed his wife in our direction.

(The Independent) Kushners spruik $500,000 investor visa at ritzy Beijing ballroom event. How is this not a serious conflict of interest? And how does this not send the message 'We only want immigrants who have tons of money'? Gross.

The lack of self-awareness is astounding. It is already costing the taxpayer money, as Melania stays in Trump Tower, so it will be double at least while he is in NJ golfing. It is already disruptive. He will now be disrupting two communities instead of one. Winning!

Maybe he's scared of the microwave tapps.

The reason I am staying in Bedminster, N. J., a beautiful community, is that staying in NYC is much more expensive and disruptive. Meetings!

Nice result for you with Always Dreaming Across! God knows what Thunder Snow was playing at! Either he hated the track or he had a saddle issue. Ho hum!

MrsT2007 · 07/05/2017 08:15

Cavemum I was there in 2000 so Dubai Millenium was there. My stud house was by the stallion paddocks and I will admit to being fond of Cape Cross, who was a sweetie

Most of my time spent up at Church Farm end though. I was heading over to Killarney for the autumn but then got offered a milk round grad scheme on £25k. Spoke to bosses at Dalham and basically it wasn't actually a grad scheme back then. I was a stud hand and that's all I'd ever be. That's not what I spent 3 years at a top university getting a top degree for.

So I left and went off to my corporate job instead.

I did make a bit of fuss about being duped and I believe the grad scheme is now significantly different.

Wow, that's a fascinating analysis by Digital Forensic Research Lab, Pain.

And we can expect all this in the UK, of course, in a few weeks' time... Such fun.Angry

MrsT2007 · 07/05/2017 09:39

I really do worry for my kids futures. This country is headed god knows where. We need some form of better opposition to Theresa May. There has to be accountability. And credible policies opposing the story ones.

The education system is in tatters, asbis the NHS. The idea of my children having opportunities like myself or even my parents did seems miles away.

BiglyBadgers · 07/05/2017 09:50

It is upsetting to think that in the not to distant future I may look back at my childhood as a golden age when we could get healthcare for free, could walk into a library and pick up a book, could get a job in Europe without lengthy visa applications.

We all like to think that things will be better for our children, but I fear that for my dd they will be worse. Sad

CaveMum · 07/05/2017 09:58

MrsT yes the grad scheme has improved in recent years, though I think some of the grads are still a bit delusional about walking into top end jobs!

I worked at Church Farm too (under Ray and Jim who I imagine were both there when you were), and Hadrian and Rutland!

Godolphin now run their own management scheme called Flying Start which involves working in the U.K., Ireland, Dubai, USA and Australia over a period of 2 years. It's very competitive to get on and a lot of the grads do go on to senior roles.

Anyway, sorry for the derail!

BiglyBadgers · 07/05/2017 10:17

This is a long read, and I confess I have only had time to get half way through. It is fascinating and terrifying in equal measure. Clearly shows many of the links between brexit, Trump and the Tories.

The great British Brexit robbery: how our democracy was hijacked
A shadowy global operation involving big data, billionaire friends of Trump and the disparate forces of the Leave campaign influenced the result of the EU referendum. As Britain heads to the polls again, is our electoral process still fit for purpose? by Carole Cadwalladr

THIs is what I've been pondering for awhile (as I'm sure many of you have as well!) and it's really been highlighted with the attempted interference in the French presidential elections. I suppose identifying it is the first step to combating it?

Lweji · 07/05/2017 10:41

Diverting a bit from the French elections (go democracy!), SNL, Morning Mika, and a strange White House "source" (a "Mr Miller") who doesn't know that not-Trumpcare now has to go through hoops before reaching his, ups, President Trump’s hands to be finally signed into law.

What IS going on? Grin

Natsku · 07/05/2017 11:26

That is encouraging Pain
I wonder who will get hacked and info-dumped just before the GE.... My money is on Corbyn.

BiglyBadgers · 07/05/2017 11:38

Could anything come out about Corbyn that hasn't already been widely covered (obviously apart from just making up stuff I guess)? Also Russia may be of the opinion that a labour party under Corbyn is as much chaos as they could hope for. Why increase the chance of him going and getting someone more capable in his place? My money is on Farron. Or for maximum confusion dropping a load of stuff on the Tories. It depends what you think the aim of the hackers is I guess.

PerkingFaintly · 07/05/2017 11:54

Yes, I've been wondering what the UK election attack will actually be. As you say, so much chaos already... Grin

Although actually that's Sad.

The Russians will definitely benefit from a weakened EU and a weakened non-EU UK. So anything that ratchets up the friction as UK leaves will be in their favour. And anything that feeds the UK delusion that we can sail off into the past and live off our empire natural superiority while the lesser nations beg our condescending favour.

But given Theresa May's current behaviour, there isn't much space to ratchet up on that...
