In all this, what's amazing is that the first bill didn't pass. They have a bloody majority.

We should expect that all bills put forward by GOP will pass.
It's a testimony to their incompetence and to how fractured they are that it has been so hard.

And the US people to pay the price, although, eventually, GOP is likely to as well, in votes.

So these are just the hikes, this all sounds barbaric.
Steven Rattner ✔ @SteveRattner
Under this amendment, here are est hikes in premiums for ppl w/:
Asthma: $4k
Diabetes: $5.5k
Pregnancy: $17k
Arthritis: $26k
Cancer: $140k!

Pregnancy has gone up by 425%.

Is this bill going to go through the Senate, how does it work?

GingerIvy · 04/05/2017 20:36

Oh and let's not forget that pre-existing apparently also includes sexual assault, DV, and post natal depression. Lovely. And they say it's not misogynistic?

GingerIvy · 04/05/2017 20:38

Donations apparently are now pouring in for democrats that are running in 2018 against GOP.

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 20:38

I'm completely perplexed how anyone - anyone - can say that domestic violence or sexual assault are 'pre-existing' conditions.

BiglyBadgers · 04/05/2017 20:50

That premium for pregnancy is Shock. Are they trying to stop all those poor people from breeding? Confused

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 21:06

I'm sure that that list will now be graven on local minds. Thanks, Bigly.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 04/05/2017 21:12

It seems they have a sick-making plan to get it through the Senate. Only 50 votes required.

It will be interesting to see whether it has any effect on the Georgia runoff or the Montana special.

Here's the to the English-lang page for that Dutch documentary:

(You may still have to click "Akkord" and allow cookies.)

I haven't tried watching it yet, so don't know if the doc has Eng subtitles.

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 21:56

Well this is something at least.

Georgia runoff - voter registration extended

Although the article notes that there will be no official publicity given to it.

AcrossthePond55 · 04/05/2017 22:04

I'm just so disappointed and sad. My cousin will probably be OK since we live in California and I'm sure the state will help pick up some of the slack, but it probably means that she will never be able to change insurance plans due to a pre-existing condition.

It's just inhuman.

I don't want to get all religious on the thread but I sure wish all these 'good Christian' GOP Reps would read their Bible, especially Matt 25:40 - 42.

I know. 2018. But what damage will be inflicted until January 2019 when the new legislators are sworn in?

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 22:07

The GOP have been finished by this, Across. Think positively - or try to.

cozietoesie · 04/05/2017 22:09

I take it that Ossoff's campaigners know well about the voter registration extension?
