Actual Title: No Unclassified Evidence of Collusion Between Trump Associates and Russia.

FTFY. You're welcome.

(Relates to Feinstein & her statement which has been misinterpreting as there's no evidence. What she said is there's nothing that's unclassified)

Australia fretting that Trump is going to be late to meet our Prime Minister who has flown 24 hours to New York. Of course Ivanka and Jared going to be at the meeting too.

cozie I never for a moment actually thought he would. I naively did hope that Congress would keep him in check. (I didn't vote for him!)

Well.......Not yet, anyway.

We thought we'd have to sue Trump today. But it turned out the order signing was an elaborate photo-op with no discernible policy outcome.

Trump’s assertion that he wished to ‘totally destroy’ the Johnson Amendment with this order has proven to be a textbook case of "fake news."

The directive to explore religious-based exceptions to healthcare does cue up a potential future battle, but the status quo has not changed.

Trump merely provided a faux sop to religious conservatives and kicked the can down the road on religious exemptions on reproductive care.

In the event that this order triggers any official government action at all, we will see Trump in court, again. www.aclu.org/news/aclu-statement-so-called-religious-freedom-executive-order

Saffron And when (and if) he does meet with Turnbull, do you think much of the talk will have much to do with the actual set agenda? Or will Trump just be boasting of the bill just passed, and of course, that old chestnut, the election he "won" so bigly? Thus taking up all ten minutes or so, leaving Turnbull with his set 'FFS' face.

State Department Promotes Ivanka Trump's Book In Another Ethics Blunder

Roussette · 05/05/2017 07:28

I don't get it. Thursday morning she instagrams pictures of herself and a link touting her book. I thought she had a role in the WH? Also this.. "Trump staffer Lynne Patton, who works in the White House as a senior adviser and director of public liaison, went the extra mile, posting a shot of herself and friends reading Trump's book in the lobby of the Trump International Hotel in Washington." Why is this sort of stuff allowed?

Apparenty Ivanka said she would abstain from 'overt promotion' of her book because of her role in the WH. That hasn't happened then.

The reviews are pretty scathing. Good. This is a woman who professes to champion women. Where is she and what are her views on the repeal of AHCA making being a woman a pre existing condition. She is conspicuous by her absence...

On Trump's #DeathCare plan…

Pre-existing conditions:

  • Cancer
  • Rape
  • Having a child

NOT pre-existing conditions:

  • Erectile Dysfunction
BiglyBadgers · 05/05/2017 08:44

I still can't get my head around how rape and pregnancy can possibly be pre-existing conditions. I really don't think these people understand the definition of pre-existing. Angry

Orlantina · 05/05/2017 08:56

In terms of pre-existing conditions, does that basically mean you have to declare such conditions to an insurer and your premiums increase when you declare them?

And if you don't declare them, how does that affect your health care?

PerkingFaintly · 05/05/2017 09:06

Hang on, something's just dawned on me.

But my knowledge of how the "pre-existing conditions" get-out works is drawn from Michael Moore's Sicko and US dramas. Can someone tell me, is it still the case that failure to declare a "pre-existing condition" - even if irrelevant - invalidates the whole of a person's medical insurance?

Because if so, this will mean that no woman will ever be able to report a historic rape - because clearly during the period before they reported, they were "failing to declare a pre-existing condition" and therefore defrauding the insurer?

(Obviously women will also be penalised for reporting a recent rape, by never being able to change insurer.)

"Later this month, the president will visit the homes of the world’s three biggest monotheistic religions – Saudi Arabia, Israel and Rome – on a tour billed as a new beginning in the struggle against extremism, before attending a Nato session in Brussels and a G7 summit in Sicily."

Now, what could possibly go wrong? Hmm

'He's an embarrassment': hostile welcome for Trump on return to New York

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 05/05/2017 13:37

It's really heartening to see the resistance taking shape in America but it really highlights how far from a grass roots activists movement we are in the UK.

Trump is such and overt, explicit threat to many principles that people are willing to defend that there is momentum to fight to counter him.

Here, we have Theresa May who presents as a moderate, at least to people who don't necessarily follow politics too closely (strong and stable leader anyone?), while accusing the opposition of "disrupting" her government for trying to win elections (!), hiding from reporters and the general public so she isn't faced with unscreened questions, accusing the EU of interfering in the elections to gain an advantage during Brexit, and generally trying to consolidate her power using whatever means possible.

I'm not trying to minimise Trump - he is obviously utterly horrendous - but he is an explicit threat which has galvanized people into action. I fear that we are going to sleep walk into a similar situation and there won't be any resistance until it's too late.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 05/05/2017 13:38

perking I'm not sure what the implications are for declaring historic rape and invalidating insurance but I cannot imagine any of the outcomes being weighted in women's favour at all.
