To ask for your fastest toddler-pleasing meals?

I try to be organised and make sure my DD(3) doesn't get to the RAAAARRR HANGRY stage, but sometimes life intervenes or I miscalculate. Please, please share your top meals that can be prepared in minutes on the hob and/or microwave (heating the oven takes too long in this situation!) DD is in danger of turning orange from surfeit of beans/scrambled eggs/spaghetti hoops on toast!

Eggs. Omelette or scrambled with salmon/veg thrown in

Pasta isn't quite as fast but is my go to - with soft cheese and veg/ham stirred through

Or hold of the hanger with fruit and I do baked salmon and veg - 15-20 mins

Otherwise I'm not adverse to a bowl of porridge or weetabix with fruit if it's a real emergency. I'd probably then give cheese and fruit as an additional snack before bed

Fish finger sandwich. Pasta with marmite or pesto.

Pasta-pasto-broccoli with fresh pasta for maximum speed (three minutes total cooking time!).
Noodles with soya beans (and shredded leftover chicken or pork if happen to have some in fridge)
Pitta bread with cheese and passata inside (pizza style)
Fried potatoes and bacon and peas (cut potatoes into little cubes and they cook very quickly indeed)

Wraps.
Cover one with cheese, slice of ham and chopped pepper. Put another wrap on top. Microwave for 30 seconds so the cheese melts.
Use scissors to cut in to triangles.
Delicious!
You can add a dip too if you can be bothered.

Thank you! I'd forgotten about the joy of pitta bread.

Pasta takes too long, alas, in this situation, but anything that can be shallow-fryed, nuked or toasted is ideal!

My current emergency repertoire is:
Tinned orange stuff on toast
Tinned orange stuff plus scrambled eggs on toast
Stir-fried noodles with veg and egg

Egg fried rice (or noodles). Pan fry some veg, I usually part microwave the rice of noodles and then chuck them in and break a couple of eggs in. Cook it for a couple minutes and it's done.

Pizza wrap

Turn in the grill
Smear tomato puree on a wrap
Sprinkle on cheese and sweetcorn and chopped ham
Grill for a couple of minutes
Apply to face

Cous cous and veg
Omelette
Banana milkshake (just banana and milk in blender)
Porridge with peanut butter
Houmous, pitta, carrot and cucumber

I try to freeze little portions of macaroni cheese, lasagne etc when I make them so I have emergency meals to hand

Cous cous with tomato pasta sauce from the freezer. Much quicker than pasta.

Pancakes. 'Two cheese' ones go down well here (not fancy don't worry) Spread cream cheese on them then grate cheddar over the top. Bit of ham if you like. My son can't shovel them in fast enough and the batter keeps for a few days in the fridge so the next round is even quicker!

Eggy bread. I chuck it at DS1 whenever he gets hangry. You earn goodwill too if you serve it with a dollop of ketchup for dunking purposes. You can chop some tomato and cucumber or steam frozen veg in the microwave as it it cooks. 3 minutes, tops.

Any leftover eggy bread is great with chilli sauce. Just saying.

Poach a piece of salmon in milk in the microwave. Serve with peas and baked beans, also done in the microwave.

Cook pasta, stir in chopped ham, peas, tinned sweet corn, cream cheese and a sprinkle of cheddar. Some frozen spinach if they'll eat it.

Eggy bread

Quesadillas - spread a wrap with cream cheese and avocado, sprinkle over ham, chopped tomatoes, grated cheese, mushrooms etc, top with another wrap and fry gently on each side until the cheese is melted

Keep a batch of veg muffins in the freezer to thaw in the microwave and serve with soup

Fried rice

Fresh filled pasta does the trick here. Boil kettle, 2 mins in boiling water, serve with sauce stirred through.

Mine is frozen spinach microwaved then mix with a couple of beaten eggs and microwave until set.
My 16 month old would eat this every day if I let her.

Tortilla pizzas - spread on some passata, top with cheese, ham and spinach and grill for 5 mins.

A post swimming lunch staple here is oatcakes spread with nut butter, little cubes of cheddar, grapes and cucumber. Has the advantage of being very portable too.

Crumpets are useful for lunches, too.
