To ask about your favourite gift from your DH?

Apart from the DC (if you're lucky enough to have them) or something like doing all the laundry.

We hear of so many DHs on here who don't even make an effort on birthday's and Xmas that it makes you wonder if there are actually any that do bother.

What is the most special gift your DH has given you and what made it special? Was it the surprise or the thoughtfulness?

Or do gifts genuinely not matter at all to you?

My most treasured thing that DH bought me is a bracelet.. kind of like a charm bracelet but flat pieces. I don't like dangly ones. There are pieces to represent all important things to me. There are 5 engraved dates, our wedding and each of our 4 DCs birthdays and a charm for my grandma who passed away a few years ago.
I won't add anything else to it. I love it and cried when I opened it.

I love giving gifts! Not too bothered about receiving them though. I'm also not keen on surprises so I tend to say what I would like for xmas / birthday if people want to give me something.

My DP chose a rose gold fox for me from Liberty. I absolutely LOVE it.
He is quite good at presents. He seems to "get" that the best gifts for me are something luxurious and that I wouldn't buy for myself. I'm very lucky,
However, I think it's almost as nice when he comes home with my favourite chocolate bar for no reason!

A diamond and platinum "key" pendant from Tiffany. I adore it and wear it all the time!
I agree Ladyratterley that the best gifts are something you wouldn't buy for yourself.

I had a necklace I bought for a few quid in a little shop that I loved. It had three tiny hearts in rose, yellow and white gold coloured metal. Wore it to death until it turned black I sadly took it off and consigned it to a drawer. Our next anniversary DH took me away to a gorgeous hotel for the night and presented me with the same necklace - except he'd had it copied exactly by a jeweller in actual rose, white and yellow gold! He's a good 'un and it is still my most treasured possession

DH commissioned my favourite artist to paint our house. I think he's a keeper.

Lego Death Star

I used to really enjoy doing large Lego sets with DS and always felt the Death Star was a bit expensive at the time. DS grew out of Lego and we never got the Death Star. We were sorting toys and Lego one day and I mentioned it was a shame we never got the Death Star as I would have loved to do it. That xmas a huge box appeared under the tree and it was the Death Star. I cried. MIL was and thought I was crying as it was a rubbish present! I loved it and loved that he really thought about it.

Every so often I get a present involving a load of work - those are my favourites. E.g. He DJ'd my birthday party and presented me with a 3 cd compilation of the carefully selected and mixed tracks. He organised a complicated and brilliant honeymoon. He made me a beautiful picture of where we live.

This Christmas I had an iPhone which was thoughtful and generous but I could have bought myself, so I treasure the stuff that takes time over money.

X Files box set in blue ray. I had said how much I loved the show growing up but never saw how it ended and when they released the dvds first years ago I could only afford season one to see if it lived up to the memory. He bought me them 'to put my feet up with on maternity leave'.

I got a promotion at work and had listed after a leather Doc Martens mens satchel to carry my laptop in for years. DH went over to Birmingham and bought it for me as a surprise - I absolutely love it and use it all the time. It doesn't sound much but it's just the thought that went into it, because I hadn't said anything much about the bag, he had noticed that I always picked it up every time we saw it.

Lusted not listed. Stupid autocorrect.

I'd said that I there was nothing that I wanted, that I thought all standard gifty things were a load of shite and i didnt want any more crap cluttering the house. So he got me... a load of manure. And he spread it on the garden. Not for everyone, but perfect for me.

There are no perfect gifts, they just have be right for the individuals involved.

My DH is really good at getting gifts I've never been disappointed at any Christmas or birthday.
I would say my top 3 would be
A Thomas Sabo bracelet he got me for our wedding engraved with 'love you mrsglitter' and our wedding date.
Gorgeous pink ugg trainers that he bought me just because he saw them and knew I'd like them.
A necklace with lines out of the 'Footprints in the sand' poem that means a lot to me

I feel very lucky, he's really thoughtful and spends a lot of effort getting me presents.

DP is quite good when it comes to presents. He is sneaky about it, watching for things I like on facebook, things I comment on when I see them advertised etc.

He bought me amazing trainers a few years ago that I just LOVED!! (they are bright red adidas wedge trainers, not a lot of people like them!) I saw them advertised and said how amazing they were. A few months later they were under the tree for me at Christmas.

This Christmas he bought me an apple watch when I spoke about the TV advert saying I loved the idea of it.

For my birthday in April, he got me tickets to a gig I had said previously I really wanted to go to.

My favourite though has got to be the necklace he got me with mine, his and our daughters names on it. It's just beautiful.

I love how he remembers all this, and presents he gets me are things I'd never buy myself like pp, because I just don't spend that kind of money on myself! In fact, I don't think I even own any jewellery he hasn't bought me.

At Christmas I always get the same present every year a certain bubble bath and sweets that I like.
I also get the latest techy gadget. Over the years I've had a DS, a god, an iPad. I also get something that I choose such as a piece of art or clothing that I fancy.

For Mother's Day he would start fishing for what I want a few weeks in advance to make sure I got the right gift from the boys. Same with my birthday and we always go out as a family for a birthday meal.

On holiday he always buys me a piece of jewellery. It doesn't have to be expensive but years later he will say, 'oh,, that's your Chamonix necklace' or 'that's your Skye bracelet'

We've been together 27 years. He is ace.

This is very outing, so I've name changed.

He contacted my parents to obtain the letters my grandad wrote to his fiance (my nan) when they were dating, and he was serving in the Middle East during WW2. He then transcribed them (hundreds and hundreds of pages), and planned and paid for a holiday for us around the Middle East to recreate his journeys.

A much longed for trip to Paris for our 30th anniversary.

Trips. He plans great trips and we tend to do them around our anniversary or birthdays.

Something physical? My hammock. I love it so much. It's so comfortable and a happy place for me.

I loved my last Christmas present - he picked a leather satchel type bag. I really love it, he even braved TK Maxx . To be very honest he picks stuff up for me quite a lot. When he does the shopping he would bring home a book he thinks I would like, a funny mug, a pack of Curly Wurlys, a scarf, air freshener for my car - silly stuff. He bought me a locket for my 18th (we're in our early/mid 40s), I don't wear it as much anymore, but that's probably been my favourite present over the years.

My OH got me a lovely necklace for my 30th. We're not married but I'd wanted something I could wear all the time that kind of would feel like a ring. He spent ages looking for something that he felt was perfect and he found it, really lovely and simple and I never take it off. Plus he planned a massive party for me along with Alan Rickman buns and got someone to make a cake in the shape of the Little Shop of Horrors plant! It was amazing.
But in everything he gets me, he's really thoughtful. Hes a very practical person but I'm not haha and he always gets me things that I'd really enjoy rather than what he thinks I need which would be more in his comfort zone.

Like a PP, I think my most treasured gift was also a diamond necklace from Tiffany that DH gave me, having planned a trip to the stunning place where he proposed, 12 years earlier. It was very special and timeless.
Its good to know that there are still some good ones out there!
