AIBU to think M&S designers are on glue?

WTF is this? I genuinely can't understand how they came up with this idea? Did they have a bunch of yellow t shirts lurking in the stock room and a bored work experience student who was a sea cadet?

Late April fool?

watchoutformybutt · 09/04/2017 18:38

I have a voucher to speaks and I can't find a single thing I want to buy. I'll end up frittering it on crisps again.

There was a similar albeit white one in the Next sale. Horrible.

Buy the Percy pigs. Have some for me.

Questioningeverything · 09/04/2017 18:39

Top looks bloody awful

GeillisTheWitch · 09/04/2017 18:39

The eyelet stringy look must be fashionable, primark was full of t-shirts similar to that the other day but with thinner strings and on both sides of the top.

AtSea1979 · 09/04/2017 18:40

Use the voucher on underwear and work trousers!

GeillisTheWitch · 09/04/2017 18:41

Kind of like this.

Utterly dreadful.

Relative of mine yesterday was wearing jeans with eyelet holes, laced up the entire length of the jeans, I couldn't stop looking at them. Horrible.

CoffeeAndOranges · 09/04/2017 18:44

Erm... I er... I quite like it Blush. I love orange (suits my gingery pale complexion) and I am partial to a bit of nautical silliness. Not sure how it would wash, mind - I can imagine the rope would take ages to dry!

officerhinrika · 09/04/2017 18:48

It's horrible. I'm a bit worried now, I was going to give my relentlessly practical sister M&S vouchers for her birthday next week. I suppose I could write a label saying new knicker money or something😀

CigarsofthePharoahs · 09/04/2017 18:49

I'm getting old.
My first thought was "that'll be terrible to wash"
It is ugly.

GlitterGlue · 09/04/2017 18:51

Bloody hell! Skirt made from bacofoil, anyone? I suppose it could be handy to have in, just in case you ever had to rustle up and emergency Darlek costume.

I think M&S are trying to look funky and young.

Aeroflotgirl · 09/04/2017 18:52

Glitter that is awful Shock, who would wear that Shock

MetalLaLa · 09/04/2017 18:55

I never set foot in M&S but must admit that when I see a thread on MN about them I secretly get excited to see what new clothing horrors await my eyes when I open one. I can't be the only person and this already hasn't disappointed me with the tshirt made from a lifeboat.

RhiWrites · 09/04/2017 18:57

It was last season's micro trend according to this: www.whowhatwear.co.uk/edgy-trend-youll-see-everywhere-this-year

Doodlebug5 · 09/04/2017 19:04

I quite like it too... it would suit me.. that colour always does

CoffeeAndOranges · 09/04/2017 19:06

Okay yeah that skirt is horrible!

I have no sense of fashion though...

HappCatt · 09/04/2017 19:06

My DDs and I was through Marks just for the lol's. We point and laugh and ask why? I think they must have two departments who design the cloths, the first department designs the normal clothes which they the send to the second department who Marks and Spencer'fy it by adding very random details such as a wacky frill here or a crazy ruffle there (basically by making it ugly) . It's madness.

Knickers, bras, Jammie's and sportswear are all ok but other than that it's dire.

OP, you are not being unreasonable.

Helenluvsrob · 09/04/2017 19:08

I got a voucher too. I was 😞Till I realised they do wine and gin ....😄

PaulDacresFeministConscience · 09/04/2017 19:09

In fairness the skirt IRL looks better - I've seen it already. The day after, I saw a lady in her 70s who was head to toe in various shades of silver including this skirt and she looked amazing. Really elegant yet funky but totally appropriate rather than trying to dress too young. Very difficult to describe but the closest I can get is that she looked 'French' in that way that their outfits always look incredibly elegant and well put together.
