AIBU?

AIBU to think M&S designers are on glue?

WTF is this? I genuinely can't understand how they came up with this idea? Did they have a bunch of yellow t shirts lurking in the stock room and a bored work experience student who was a sea cadet?

Late April fool?

I saw someone wearing the bacofoil skirt yesterday. Happy to confirm, it is as bad as it looks!

They do some really comfy cheap-ish jeans as well, and they do last really well. And I've had good boots and sandals from them. And a few dresses, jumpers, skirts etc - but those were mainly indigo which they're getting rid of.

(As well as the standard socks, tights, undies, plain jumpers, gloves, food.)

They've got worse again in the past year or two. They had a phase where I could actually buy things from them maybe 2-4 years ago, but I've not bought anything that's not just completely plain since then.

Good god, that's hideous. I'm always amazed on these m&s threads that they surpass themselves each and every time.
And yet I got a great cheap suit (for an interview) from there recently that was lovely quality.

One of the reviews for bacofoil skirts helpfully advises that it's wipe clean. Sex party skirt?

l worked in M & S 5 years ago, usually in the food hall, but occasionally l'd be sent over the the general store. One day l was on duty in the changing rooms.
One lady (who was likely around my age) complained to me that her mum (who must easily have been in her 80s) couldn't find "anything nice, it's all for young ones!"
l honestly don't know what she was looking at. l'm in my 50s and l wouldn't be seen dead in 99% of it.
l do like their night wear, but they've even stopped selling the knickers l used to like. l've gone off Next as well. lt's a good thing l can use a sewing machine.

I quite like it. That colour looks good on us pasty pale folk and it's something a bit different.

Wipe clean 😂

To be fair I ordered a couple of pairs of their skinnies a couple of weeks ago and they are fine. Not great but ok as they don't have much stretch in them, and I also ordered two bikinis today, haven't used them for years before this. They seem to have weird fitting clothes though. I think they assume all British women are pair shaped.

Don't diss the bacofoil skirt - they must have had dresses in that material last year, and I managed to get 2 of them in the outlet for peanuts to make my 7 year old a dragon outfit. So it is very useful. I'd not have been able to buy the fabric ever for what I paid for those dresses.

Oh yes, buy the yellow top and bacofoil skirt, OP. You'll be the envy of all your friends.

They often start selling out after people posts the links, some of the lurkers must like them/

For those of you with vouchers - m&s beauty products and fragrances are amazing!

They sell a range called Pure which is just like REN and a Crabtree & Evelyn perfume that is just like Parma violets.

That is the most unflattering garment I have seen this year. Square boxy t shirt with built in tow rope. Maybe if you work for the AA? Would do away with the need for a high viz?

Nasty, nasty things, but in fairness there is a lot of bizarre stuff in the shops at the moment, all embroidered flowers, weird shapes, ruffles for no reason etc.

I will say that M & S have some quite nice sandals in at the moment, there is a flat yellow pair I might get, I hate yellow as a rule but thought they would look good against grey and black which I wear a lot of, also a pair of midnight blue double strap slides I rather like. There are some ok bags but nothing I couldn't get nicer elsewhere.

I don't really get the knicker love, the material always feels scratchy and cheap to me, prefer Sainsburys Tu for underwear, fits well, washes well, cheap as chips.

M&S always seem to be trying to get the younger crowd who would never shop there in a million years - they don't know their own customers - racks full of size 6 miniskirts and all the 12/ 14s normal length sold out - I wonder why? Also - what the hell happened to Next? Was in last week and there was literally nothing I could buy. Absolute sh*t.

In fairness I would look like an extra-fat Christmas turkey in that skirt. I am short and dumpy so it really is not made for me! I think the issue with much of M&S's current collection is that it is very niche, and designed for a small selection of people who can wear this kind of shit and look good in it. The lady I saw wearing the skirt was about 5'9", slim, gorgeous silver-white hair and was rocking amazing cat flick eyeliner and proper fire-engine red lipstick. I wish I looked a tenth as good now as she did in her 70s!! However people like her are few and far between.
