DH has some mates coming round...

I thought he was out with them Sat night so I was looking forward to a night in on my own recovering from being out on Friday.

Turns out they are coming round ours. They'll play music, drink lots of tea as the reason they are not going 'out out' is only two of the four of them are drinking at the mo and the other two aren't big drinkers anyway. Old farts (well 50).

AIBU to claim the front room with the sofas, TV, Fire and cat as my own space for the night and leave them in the back room or kitchen. Hard chairs and not as cosy.

I just don't think they'll appreciate cosy....whereas me and the cat will.

Yanbu!

The kitchen is where the food and booze (or in their case tea making facilities) are.

Make up a flask and have nibbles and wine to hand so you don't even have to venture in there.

Eatingcheeseontoast · 23/03/2017 11:47

I was thinking that I could tie a note round the cats neck and send him in with a 'send wine and cheese to front room' order.

Hard chairs and not so cosy sounds ideal - they won't stay as long!! Grin
Sit in your pj's in the lounge - face pack optional - and they def won't want to intrude!!

HarmlessChap · 23/03/2017 11:59

If you have friends around and he said that he wanted you to stay in the kitchen with them while he lounged in the comfy warn room how would that make you feel?

If you would genuinely be happy with that then YANBU but if you would feel it's a bit of a piss take and then YABU.

Eatingcheeseontoast · 23/03/2017 12:08

He'd probably pop round to his parents and watch telly....I don't have that option!

If I had mates round we'd probably be in the dining room or kitchen eating or drinking!

The cat gets to decide. obvs.

OneSecondAfter · 23/03/2017 12:24

Just ask him?

Cos if it was me, I'd choose the kitchen anyway, for ease of access to food and drink.

ProseccoBitch · 23/03/2017 12:32

YANBU at all but if it was me I'd take the cat to bed and read a book or watch telly and leave them to it.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 23/03/2017 12:51

Go to a friend's for a sleep over? Someone whose house you can mooch about in, in your cosy clothes?

If not, I'd just mooch about at home, staying mostly in the bedroom - but I love my bedroom! Me, the cat, the iPad, nibbles, drinks... I'd be happy.

If they're drinking tea, I doubt it'll be a hugely noisy or late night 😁

Eatingcheeseontoast · 23/03/2017 13:08

He says he's happy in the kitchen - I just wondered whether I was Being Unreasonable or not.

Cat not allowed in bedroom otherwise that would be a good choice (I know, I know he's on to the Cats Protection League about it regularly).

YABU.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2017 13:14

I understand where you're coming from, but I do think you're being a little unreasonable. It's his home too and I think when entertaining guests you shouldn't be banished like a teenager. However can't you or don't you want to join them? Are they not your friends too?

Canyouseethis · 23/03/2017 13:16

I would do everything I was going to do in the living room, in the bedroom (food, wine, cat, laptop) and let him have the living room!

FitnessFad · 23/03/2017 13:17

YABU.
like the above poster said, it's his house too.
Why don't you take some snacks up to the bedroom with you, get cosy and watch a box set?

VladmirsPoutine · 23/03/2017 13:19

It's his house too. I know you are being light-hearted but I can imagine if a guy was posting a similar thread MN would be up in arms accusing him of being selfish and controlling or some such.

ChippingInLovesWoollyHugs · 23/03/2017 13:32

Oh well, if he says he's happy, let them crack on with it 😊🍫🍾🥂🍹🐱

But seriously? 🐱 Isn't allowed in the bedroom Hmm poor moggy.

Saltedcaramel2016 · 23/03/2017 13:32

YANBU, if you are in alone where are you meant to go apart from to bed? Kitchen is a social area, living room is for pjs and tv!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/03/2017 13:42

(Cat) ... Is this how you get the cat emoticon???

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/03/2017 13:43

.... Obviously not.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2017 13:44

(Shock)

Ooh is that how it works?

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2017 13:44

Nope.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2017 13:45
Shock
Bluntness100 · 23/03/2017 13:45

Ooh,,it's square brackets.,🙃🙃🙃

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2017 13:46

The cat is an apple emoji by the way.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2017 13:46

Apple, as in the computer, not the fruit.

I'll just go away now.l😂
