DH has some mates coming round...

I thought he was out with them Sat night so I was looking forward to a night in on my own recovering from being out on Friday.

Turns out they are coming round ours. They'll play music, drink lots of tea as the reason they are not going 'out out' is only two of the four of them are drinking at the mo and the other two aren't big drinkers anyway. Old farts (well 50).

AIBU to claim the front room with the sofas, TV, Fire and cat as my own space for the night and leave them in the back room or kitchen. Hard chairs and not as cosy.

I just don't think they'll appreciate cosy....whereas me and the cat will.

I have absolutely no problem with him having mates round - the more the merrier and he has no problems with me having mates round.

This is purely about who gets the comfy chairs and the TV - or the less comfy chairs - no TV (which they won't be watching anyway) and readier access to the fridge and kettle.

It's just in this case he and them will be getting on with their own thing and I'll be getting on with my own thing. Rather than it being a 'joint' thing.

They'll be chatting and talking crap about stuff that doesn't interest me and having far more fun than in they tried to involve me and I quite fancy a night in front of the TV rather than going out and leaving them to it.

Up to you, OP. Personally I would be pissed off if I told my DH I was having some friends round and he expected us to stay out of the sitting room, but it's your home and relationship.

Personally I'd let my DH have the front room/lounge and either go out to the cinema, visit friends or worst case scenario take to the bedroom. That's what my DH does for me.

Seeing friends on the Friday and then run out of friends to see on the Saturday! (sad). Also hadn't arranged anything as thought they were going out.

Just don't fancy sitting upstairs all night in the bedroom with an Ipad and there's a severe shortage of cinemas or anywhere that isn't a pub round our way.

They may still get the front room if I want to potter about instead. And the cat can decide for himself.
