Can't imagine that's true about HV and Midwives not advising on formula

Health visitor: yes. Midwife who I had for 3 weeks post-natally: no. On a loop I was told, 'we're not allowed to advise on formula'. Not imagining this to be true does not, unfortunately, stop it being so.

When was your pregnancy if you don't mind me asking, raviolidreaming?

Just that when my nephew was born in about 2002 the midwife advised my SIL on what types of formula would be best and how to make it up, as she couldn't breast-feed due to a double mastectomy.

Maybe it's changed since. If it has, it's bloody disgusting that mothers unable to breast-feed are being treated as inferior to those who can.

DS is a month old, so fresh out of the box 😊 It was a horrific time - I had really wanted to breastfeed - made more daunting by lack of information and all the hushed 'we can't talk about that' tones made it feel like I was doing something taboo. It's partly why we bought the Perfect Prep - anything to make things a bit more straightforward. The health visitors have been marvellous since though.

The leaflet we were given on ff said to boil a kettle then wait up to half an hour for it to cool. Then use a small amount of water to dissolve powder and top up with cool boiled water.

Unfortunately baby DD was not happy to wait, and we were told not to make up bottles and keep in the fridge.

This is why the pp is so popular. It's not laziness, it's sleep deprived desperation.

Can I just point out to all the rather hysterical people... the pipes would be green, not black.

The black is dirty limescale and build-up because of shitty tapwater, using dodgy filters and not using the machine often enough/letting it sit for too long without cleaning.

It is not mould. If anything there could be algae. But not mould. Water doesn't go fucking mouldy.

"Water doesn't go fucking mouldy"

Golly, what an aggressive way to address the 'hysterical' people.
