To use the small Nutella jars as drinking glasses?

I've got loads, my friend thinks I'm a cheapskate says she always chucks hers in the recycling.

I thought that was the point of them?

I do.

BoogleMcGroogle · 02/03/2017 13:04

We do this. I quite like red wine in them. It makes me feel like Uncle Cesar in Manon des Sources. I'd prefer to drink pastis from them, except it's abhorrent.

kel1234 · 02/03/2017 13:08

A girl who lived in my flat in uni halls did that. Why not if you need extra glasses

Huldra · 02/03/2017 13:09

That's why they're the shape they are.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2017 13:13

Yes of course, all my short tumblers are courtesy of nutella. And def keep some lids, they're perfect for storing half cans of beans etc in the fridge.

If my glasses cupboard is full, I get big jars.

kali110 · 02/03/2017 13:13

What??? Does someone have a pic of these jars as i'm seriously confused! Confused

IJustGotHitByADeer · 02/03/2017 13:14

My mum does this - they did Scooby Doo themed ones a few years ago, I explained they were supposed to be used as glasses when she tried to recycle it, think she ended up getting a few more jars to get more of the characters

And DH and I keep the little ramekins desserts come in for serving things like nuts, and for prepped ingredients (chopped onion etc) that we're not ready to use yet

Saves having to buy them Smile

I use the glasses for my Friday night Amaretto, the kids milkshakes, squash, jellies, Angel delights, the list is endless! My friend is a snob!

As long as you're not a hipster cafe in Dalston, crack on Wink

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2017 13:30

OP - your friend is an idiot. If she doesn't want the glasses,

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2017 13:30

Urgh, fat thumb, just buy the big pots.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2017 13:32

Wouldn't the hipster cafe use the big jars rather than something so obviously a glass?

Aderyn2016 · 02/03/2017 13:34

I'm so glad I read this thread - it didn't occur to me to keep the lids!

Bedsheets4knickers · 02/03/2017 13:36

I never thought of doing this . Love this idea

Oldraver · 02/03/2017 13:36

I've got a few but not that keen on Nutella.

So I bought a set of six from a charity shop, there were several sets in there

FortyFacedFuckers · 02/03/2017 13:37

Wow I can't believe this hasn't occurred to me, thank you! Grin

IJustGotHitByADeer · 02/03/2017 13:37

Snugglepalace that's genius using them for jellies, as soon as Lent's over I will definitely be doing that Smile

gillybeanz · 02/03/2017 13:39

we do, some of them have a nice twist in the glass at the bottom, I thought this is what they were for when finished.

Chloe84 · 02/03/2017 13:40

I had a couple, used them as glasses. Then I used them to soak paintbrushes in white spirit, but they got splattered so I recycled them.

Gosh that was boring.

EssentialHummus · 02/03/2017 13:41

errol there's a good chance, actually. So far the "best" I've been served cocktails in was a reclaimed primary school test tube - maybe a Nutella glass would be too mainstream Grin.

elQuintoConyo · 02/03/2017 13:41

I have just bought one with white reindeers on - i shall be going back tomorrow for the stars and gingerbread man patterns tomorrow!

They are perfect for storing things, for drinking out of, for using while crafting (they hold pens/pencils/paintbrushes/glue sticks etc).

Google 'nutella jar hack' or something and loads of ideas pop up.

MiddleClassProblem · 02/03/2017 13:42

I've used them as pudding glasses for individual tiramisu, trifle, mousse, cheesecakes etc

MerryMarigold · 02/03/2017 13:43

That's the whole point of them. They are perfect size for a fruit juice in the am.

MiddleClassProblem · 02/03/2017 13:44

They're not screw top, just had a cap lid
