AIBU to think that MLM businesses ask that you completely change your personality to sell their crap products?

I have a friend from college, love her and loved keeping up to date with her witty facebook posts, tweets and instagram pics. She has a really clever sense of humour I always loved.

Recently though she has started her own MLM business and she is totally different on social media. All her photos are related to the products, her posts honestly sound like she has been told to write them and her photos have cringy filters over them. Every other word is hun now and she wouldn't say that before.

So is this it now? Shes like a totally different person!!

Till she sees the light most likely. My friend is always posting about how super busy she is but super excited and super news from head office and she can't wait to expand her business. Oh and not to mention the all expenses paid holiday she could get which is actually four nights in the Dominican Republic but you have to get yourself there and you need spending money so it's not really all paid. She talks about how her business is thriving and how much time she gets with her kids - who are both at school... motivational memes every day and how her downline are smashing it.

It's sad, but it's the same obsessive behaviour from them all. She can't expand her business, she'll still be in a rented house in a dodgy part of a city and she'll never own a merc. But unless you say you're not interested prepare for it to infiltrate everything.

Please do not get suckered into buying anything from her, it will never end and YOU will be the bad one for not 'supporting her' aka buying stuff cos nobody else will and she has to buy stuff herself anyway to stay in the loop! So if she doesnt make any money its YOUR fault (and your just jealous of her fabulous business )

Its all forced happiness, all sound bites, all photos of them 'doing nothing but sitting back and watching the money roll in' showing off their "Totes amaze" products (shit) cos a business doesnt need effort to get going and keep going does it? (Unless you count endless photos, endless facebook updates, endless requests for you to have a party, buy the damm stuff etc which they are told to do about every half hour per day by their 'team leaders')

Until she sees the light or runs out of money this is her from now on, a robot programmed to sell shite...sorry.

It was the matter of fact way they said "oh yes Hun they get invited to a retreat, it's in Utah (travel not provided). So much good work for charity!" It's in fucking Utah!! Just like hopping on a flight to the Dominican Republic is dead easy too! For four nights?

I actually said "what percentage do you give to this defend innocence group?" NOONE could answer me. I said I was went comfortable with a shade of lipstick being raising awareness.

I'm embarrassed to say I got sucked into this and for a good couple of years too I've now left and totally see the light and see through all the "wow that's amazing" BS! Yes I did earn some good money from it but then it started to fall apart and I just didn't feel right trying to drag more people into something I no longer believed in.

Hopefully your friend will see the light sooner rather than later and get back to her old self (like I now have).

I find it really sad now when I see people posting about their mlm business - I've unfollowed a few people because of it and I'm sure some of my friends have unfollowed me, and who can blame them!!

It's hard hard work and there is no balance although they harp on about this. although you can make some money, you do have to spend more than that initial start up cost no matter what they say.

Yes, there's a lot of evidence that suggests they effectively use brain washing type techniques on the people they recruit. It is terrifying watching someone's personality change.

I've recently acquired a bot. She has only been doing it since the new year but my finger is hovering over the unfollow button already.

They are told what to say; if you check out a few of their pages they are depressingly similar.
Also, they are told not to reveal their actual earnings, even if you ask a straight question about it. Whereas if you wanted to invest in a business, you would be able to see the books.

Its multi level marketing hippy companies like forever living, younique, juice plus ect.

Thing is- she isn't interested really in make up! She never wore it in college, she's one of these naturally attractive types, and preferred plainer clothes. Now she's all over facebook caked in younique crap going on about how amazing it all is.

She already had a great life, married to her best friend, just bought a new house and seemed to be working in a job she really loved (and is still working in apparently).

All her posts are about her 'business' now
