A civil suit for allegedly copying a design isn't theft. In law it's more akin to a boundary dispute.

See, I did say it was vastly unimportant. Blush

"Wow. I had no idea no many bad bad things (very very bad) were going on with Ivanka Trump's businesses. Sweat shops, lawsuits for copyright theft, refusal to give workers maternity leave, all sorts of shit. Nordstrom's just stopped carrying the line, which probably is a financial dent.

Article seems to be saying that people are accusing Red Cross of being hypocritical condemning his stance on the Muslim ban, yet allowing him to host it

OTOH - they could get him to agree to something publicly.

Remembers Yes PM and announcing it on air as a done deal

A random comment seen:

The people who spent the last 18 months mocking extreme sensitivity in our culture are mad at a beer commercial

It's certainly a point. Grin

GingerIvy · 06/02/2017 21:45

Sorry - the word "theft" there was mine. As I'm not a solicitor, and don't have a lot of knowledge of copyright/design laws, I'm going to have to just say "oops, had no idea it was a technical issue."

merrymouse · 06/02/2017 21:47

I don't think the Red Cross are in a position to turn down money from anyone at the moment.

amispartacus · 06/02/2017 21:48

I do feel for people who have been left behind. It seems that health care is an issue - and that access to physicians in rural areas may be harder as it seems 15,000 physicians are from the countries on the list.

When mums can't see a doctor about their child because the Government is limiting immigration, then I would imagine concerns over global terrorism affecting the USA and their lives comes second.

Israeli parliament passes law retroactively legalizing thousands of homes built illegally on Palestinian land.

I think something about this being about to happen was mentioned in an article I posted here (or related Trump thread) when someone insisted on how great Netanyahu was that some settlers were finally (after several years) being removed.
It's like one step forward and ten back.

Ginger,
Your bloke off twitter did say "stealing"...

GingerIvy · 06/02/2017 21:52

merrymouse I suspect that's why they didn't quibble over it.

Lweji · 06/02/2017 21:52

Hmmm
I'm not sure. Isn't theft sometimes an ownership dispute?

lingle · 06/02/2017 21:53

So what shall we correct next?

GingerIvy · 06/02/2017 21:54

lingle Yes, he did. I can really only apologise for my use of the word theft. I'm not sure what you want here.

lingle · 06/02/2017 21:55

Ooh, :) can't believe anyone read that post Lweji

munchkinmaster · 06/02/2017 21:57

I am never going to catch up enough to join in the conversation but wanted to flag up this podcast.

It's journalists and ex Obama staffers. It's a good round up of the week but somehow remains light hearted and (almost) positive

It is certainly widely accepted in Australia that the Trump Turnbull conversation and subsequent Trump tweets were not the tone Australia is used to from one of its closest allies, with whom Australian soldiers have fought side by side for 100 years.
Followed up bu the White House getting Turnbull's name wrong - on two separate days and thinking he is a President rather than a Prime Minister.

amispartacus · 06/02/2017 21:58

PMQs will be entertaining as usual this week.

Will Trump still dominate? Will there be a fist fight?

Donald Trump just hosted a massive fundraising event for a charity that helps refugees

I'll be generous - but will he give a speech?

Yes.
Refugees are here to steal your jobs or to undertake radical terrorism. Many are rapists and criminals. Even as young as 5 year old. Some are not.
But I love the refugees. Don't you? I love them.
Did you believe me? Really?
Who does?
Get them outta here. Out.

lingle · 06/02/2017 21:58

I just meant Ginger that you were only passing on what your source said.

klassy · 06/02/2017 21:58

Ooh, this is an interesting article on Trump's social media followers. Are there any techy/social media whizzes around to comment on it? (I'm thinking @AnchorDownDeepBreath though I don't know if she's on these threads?)

amispartacus · 06/02/2017 21:59

Just keep on doing what you are doing Ginger.

Anyway where's blooming lurker gone?

GingerIvy · 06/02/2017 22:00

Multiple news sources had stories that various members of Congress (John McCain, for example) rang Turnbull to smooth things over. There was also a follow up that Trump was not happy with that. I would think if the conversation had gone swimmingly, that McCain would not have had to smooth things over.

Obviously ,just my opinion.
