Dogs in cafes/pubs

I was in a cafe for lunch today and the people next to me had large dog which tried sniffing my food when it was served to the table. The owners apologised but then didn't make any extraordinary effort to make sure it didn't happen again.

I don't mind dogs but DH doesn't like them. Why must people bring their dogs into these places and then not be sensitive as to whether the people around them feel uncomfortable?

Personally I think there should be laws about this.

Yanbu.

I think it’s absolutely disgusting an I’m a dog owner.

Dahlietta · 07/12/2017 21:25

Chardonnay, I'm pretty sure that they can.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 07/12/2017 21:27

Our Café Nero allows dogs because it's near a park. I wouldn't want a dog sticking its nose into my cheesecake, but it's never happened.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 07/12/2017 21:29

Then I suppose ZOMBIE dogs should not be allowed in cafes, the rest can be on the owner's discretion.

Dahlietta · 07/12/2017 21:32

ZOMBIE dogs for sure should not. They'd be after your brains, not just your food.
By the way, all Caffe Neros allow dogs as far as I know. If you fancy a chain coffee shop, but not a sniffy ZOMBIE dog, try Costa or Starbucks.

Our local pub allows dogs in and we take ours occasionally when we've been on a long walk. She's well-behaved though and wouldn't dare beg for food. She used to be an absolute swine over old (she was a year old rescue) and it took some strict rules to stop her doing it.

In the summer holidays we were at a pub in Padstow which allows dogs and the people on the table next to us had their dog with them (ours was also with us, kipping by my feet). Their dog did this incredible lunge and took the whole steak off the wife's plate in one swoop and there was absolute chaos, with the dog growling and going mad and the family screeching that the smell of food and the noise levels had obviously tipped the dog over the edge. Surely if you know your dog behaves that way you simply don't take them into restaurants or pubs?

Why don't I get a zombie thread warning on the mobile site? Xmas Sad

Dahlietta · 07/12/2017 21:37

To be fair, EvilDoctor, I'm not getting a ZOMBIE THREAD warning either.

Willow2017 · 07/12/2017 21:54

Oh FFS!
No Zombie warnings on phone or on pc.
Maybe its not dead long enough?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 07/12/2017 21:56

Nah, the original dogfight thread was at least two name changes ago.

Jubejube1 · 08/12/2017 00:00

I dislike loud, messy eaters & people generally. I’d rather have a dog next to me.
