to expect a bin in the bathroom?

Recently I've stayed with a very dear friend of mine and close family of DH's. Both households are very hospitable and I love visiting them. BUT. In neither case was there a bin in the bathroom, and in one of them there wasn't even one in the guest bedroom. AIBU not to want to put used cotton pads/buds and sanitary stuff back into my sponge bag, or cart it round the house in my hands looking for a bin?

There isn't one at my MIL's house - it's really odd! So yes, I wrap my sanitary stuff up in copious amounts of loo roll and then discreetly bury in the utility room bin when no one is looking. It's very odd - where does she put old loo rolls, face wipes etc?!

Just as well you won't be coming to stay with me - I don't have a bin in my bathroom or bedroom.

I would never have a bin in the bedroom (not sure why...) but always have one in the bathroom. I hate when other people don't have one and there is nowhere discreet to dispose of sanitary stuff.

Each to their own, of course - but personally I'd always have a bin in my bathroom. I don't use sanitary towels or tampons because the birth control pill I'm on stops my periods, but I want a bin in there for things like cotton buds, loo rolls, wrappers from toiletries or bathroom products, dental floss, disposable razors, plasters etc. And I'd certainly want visitors to have somewhere to put used sanitary towels etc if they needed to.

I don't have a bin in my bedroom, though. It's right next to the bathroom anyway.

I also think it's strange, and have a bin in the bathroom and bedrooms. I thought everyone did. But now I'm thinking about it I'm sure some of my friends don't either.

I now have a bin in my downstairs bathroom as teenage dd complained about its absence. I keep forgetting to empty the flaming thing!!!

It puzzles me that DH's sister's family don't have any bins in either of their bathrooms, despite at least two members of the household presumably having periods. Maybe they carry their used sanitary stuff to the bedroom and put it in the bin there. Not so easy if you are a guest though. I keep a plastic bag in the spare room where we sleep and then put any rubbish in that if necessary.

You must have a bin in your bathroom just as you must wash towels every time you use them. What's wrong with you people?!

It should be standard. I use reusable pads but not everyone does, and even when pregnant kept the bin lined in case of friends wanting to dispose of sanitary wear! I recycle loo rolls though.

This winds me up to no end. The frantic where can I stuff my pad dance drives me insane , then attempting to stealth out of the bathroom with pad rolled up in wrapper under my shirt to casually find a bin elsewhere without looking like a muppet or getting caught. ¬_¬ Growl.

I think bathroom should have a bin. When I stay at MiL's (who doesn't) I have to try and covertly carry downstairs all my bathroom wastage, and put it into the kitchen bin (only bin in the house) and hope no one notices my rolled up used ST'/tampons!

Having said that, my sisters bathroom bin is usually overflowing with all kinds of horrors. She never seems to empty the darned thing which is definitely BU.

Dunno, we don't have one. Cotton buds etc go in the bin in our room which is right next door. Kids are too young to have any need. I did think about getting one the other day though, as the cleanser I use now needs wiping off with cotton wool, so would be handy for that. Ticking one of the clichés above I use washable pads instead of tampons etc, hence not really thinking of it before.

interesting as I have a bin in my bathroom, but no loo in there. In my loo (cloakroom) I don't have a bin, there's not really any room for one either, all bedrooms have a bin.I guess I would take a plastic bag with me and use that as a bin.

My MIL has no bins in the house at all.

We have a lined bathroom bin and I change it once weekly.

It was a bit of a shock to discover my BIL had put a dirty nappy in it recently but luckily that was the day before I changed it!

I now only have a bin in the kitchen, found that some buggers kept filling up all the other bins and never emptying them.... Then the bin fairy came along and emptied them all.

The bin fairy got pissed off with this, so told everyone to use the main fucking bin in the kitchen so she now only has to now empty 1.
