Just realised that I have this and it's driving me nuts!! Didn't even know it was a 'thing'

OP posts:
lougle · 31/12/2016 20:42

I'm not sure. I hate competing noises and can't stand the children having the noise on their tablets turned on, or sitting in cafes, etc. But there aren't any specific noises that annoy me.

WheresTheEvidence · 31/12/2016 20:44

Yes

But I gave also recently realised I have sensory processing disorder

mum19821985 · 31/12/2016 20:46

I have this! I could quite happily kill my husband when he chews with his mouth open right next to me! The sound of snoring sends me looney, also I can't stand it when we have the tv on and another video is being played on a phone at the same time grr

sooperdooper · 31/12/2016 20:47

I'm not sure I officially have it but I find some noises intolerable - munching, slurping, phones beeping, DH playing videos on his phone while the tv is on, the beefy noise the car makes when someone hasn't put their seat belt on yet (glares at DH)

Erm, yeah maybe I do Hmm

Sloper · 31/12/2016 20:47

Yes ... but I'm now also pretty sure I may be autistic (being referred for proper tests).

I bloody hate noises and almost murdered someone for eating crisps loudly the other day - I'm now sitting feeling quite tense with noise-reducing headphones on as there's the faintest of "bass" party noises from a house nearby.

One day they'll invent the perfect earplug/headphone combo that will just wipe out certain sounds and no others. And I will buy a million of them just to be sure Smile

mum19821985 · 31/12/2016 20:48

My mil has two TVs (one above the other) with different channels on at the same time! Crazy! One for her and one for my son. Lol I can't stand the noise!

Sloper · 31/12/2016 20:48

mum Shock

RandomMess · 31/12/2016 20:49

Pretty sure I do, lots of different sounds make me feel murderous Sad

Trooperslane · 31/12/2016 20:49

Me!!!

Honeyandfizz · 31/12/2016 20:50

Yes although I hadn't heard of it until now! I sleep with ear plugs as I cannot bear the sound of next doors tv/pipes creaking etc

There's a girl at work who chomps on her food with her gob open, I literally have to leave the room. Was sat next to a bloke in Wagamama on Tuesday who was chewing on his battered squid, I could see it going round in his mouth as he didn't bother to close it I had such rage I wanted to shout at him!

sooperdooper · 31/12/2016 20:51

Beepy noise!! Not beefy Grin

Oh god people playing music too loud on the bus and some utter bastards who watch anything on a devise in public without earphones

GerardNoWay · 31/12/2016 20:53

Me!

Chewing, breathing, snoring,etc.

The rage I feel is indescribable. I have left restaurants before as can't stand the sound of people eating.

MadHattersWineParty · 31/12/2016 20:54

Yes. Although DP says there's no evidence for it Xmas Angry I am very anxious at the moment due to various things and it seems to have made it worse. Some noise ( white noise for example- the traffic outside the window or the washing machine) doesn't bother me AT ALL. However the person behind me on the train the other day was putting pressure on his drink-can and the noise seemed to get right in my ear, if that makes sense.

I think that noise I can predict doesn't bother me but if it's a noise I hadn't and if it's a bit of a 'surprise' that really gets to me. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone though Blush

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 31/12/2016 21:04

Yes. I have misokinesia also. DOUBLE FUN

mum19821985 · 31/12/2016 21:11

What is that?

likepeasandcarrots · 31/12/2016 21:14

I have it, very severely too, which is getting worse as I get older. My Husband chewing and breathing is probably the worst noises but I can be a lot of things, chewing, breathing, snorting, cutlery on plates, lots of chatter. It really kicks off the fight or flight response and it is horrendous.

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 31/12/2016 21:14

Rage when I can see repetitive movement out of the corner of my eye. My sister sits with her legs crossed and her foot jerking, and my mum twirls her thumbs. It drives me insane!

Miserylovescompany2 · 31/12/2016 21:15

Another one who can't stand the sound of other people eating. Plus, higher pitched noises send me around the twist, they actually cause pysical pain. I was walking the other day when a Jack Russell started yapping...the pain in my head was quite intense.

I can't concentrate if there is any background noise, talking, TV etc...I'm thinking maybe I have it???

I have two autistic children, I'm probably on the spectrum too? I think you just adjust your life accordingly. I tend to avoid busy/noisy places like the plague.

FoxInABox · 31/12/2016 21:33

Yes!
Nail clippers drive me insane- it's okay when I'm using them but anybody else using them then the noise drives me mad. Also, breathing or eating loudly and scratching through clothes.

FoxInABox · 31/12/2016 21:35

SpunBodgeSquarepants I can't handle that either! Makes me so irrationally angry!

RattieOfCatan · 31/12/2016 21:47

I have misophonia, sounds like I may have the movement one too, fidgeting drives me absolutely nuts. My mum and husband are my worst triggers, mum especially.

SarcasmMode · 31/12/2016 21:49

Sort of.

Metal on metal sounds freak me out.

Certain noises like repetitive clicking make me agitated.

Minivaperviper · 31/12/2016 21:51

I read a thread the other day on here, Google it and realised my daughter has it.

I don't think I have it but like an pp I hate competing noise. It stresses me out and I can't think and can't process thoughts in a conversation etc. I generally keep things on low level for sound and never have more than one thing on at a time and can't tolerate my dc making loud noises but think that bit is pretty common.

Mummylin · 31/12/2016 21:54

I cannot stand any sort of tapping, on a glass, table just anything nor can I stand to hear a pen being clicked, I don't like the tele loud either.

Minivaperviper · 31/12/2016 21:55

Fidgeting drives me crazy but more so when it's within the same air space I always have to kick my dc off the same sofa or move myself. But she I think has either add or adhd not formally diagnosed yet so probably an exceptional amount of fidgeting from her.
