Plastic cheese in an omelette

OohhItsNotHoxton · 30/11/2016 14:43

It's the only cheese in the house. AIBU?
I would like to add the cheese was purchased by someone else and I forgot to buy naice cheese when I went shopping earlier.

Just have scrambled eggs.

maddiemookins16mum · 30/11/2016 14:47

YANBU (but please add plastic ham too and have with white bread and butter). The cheese will go all melty.

TheMortificadosDragon · 30/11/2016 14:47

Some sorts of 'plastic cheese' melt well, so I'd go for it.

OohhItsNotHoxton · 30/11/2016 14:48

It's not the same though. Scrambled eggs is a breakfast thing. An omelette is a legitimate tea thing.

This is exactly why you shouldn't have plastic cheese in the house, at times it will seemingly be your only cheese choice.

Wookiecookies · 30/11/2016 15:24

Ooooh, I am partial to the occasional slice of plastic fantastic OP. Go for it! To never try is to never know. (Pictures and breakdown needed post omelette obvs)

HunterHearstHelmsley · 30/11/2016 15:26

No.

OohhItsNotHoxton · 30/11/2016 15:33

OK. I'm going to brave it. Purely in the interests of Mumsnet of course. I'm home alone so will be partaking around 6:30ish and will report back with photos.
Now the question remains what to have as a side. Toast or oven chips?

dudsvile I totally agree. But DDs byf was cooking for her while I was at work and she insisted on plastic cheese on her home made burger. As well as mozorella (which is all gone). As a hopefully normal MIL to be I said nothing and allowed the cheese to stand.

KinkyAfro · 30/11/2016 15:36

Plastic cheese is the dogs, especially on a burger

Wookiecookies · 30/11/2016 15:39

Toast, purely because it seems like such a bizarre accompaniment, and this thread is bizarre m, so I think you should roll with it! Grin

TotalConfucius · 30/11/2016 15:39

Baked beans with some more plastic cheese hidden underneath. Smee-licious.
(In for a penny...)

maddiemookins16mum · 30/11/2016 15:39

Chips as it's your evening meal (toast if lunchtime). Don't forget the tomato sauce.

ShotsFired · 30/11/2016 15:44

Plastic cheese on toast is fab! Don't even need to grill it, just let the heat of the toast slightly weld the cheese on.

bumbleymummy · 30/11/2016 15:45

Chips and bread and butter for butties :)

OohhItsNotHoxton · 30/11/2016 15:45

I have no baked beans Sad. Because naturally that would be the obvious side.
I do have tomato sauce, thankfully.

OohhItsNotHoxton · 30/11/2016 15:46

I also have butter.

It's looking like we can save this situation.

wonderingsoul · 30/11/2016 15:47

Thats grim

But then i have a irrational haterd for fake cheese

Newtoday · 30/11/2016 15:50

Plastic cheese on omlette is really nice! Do it!

FlyingElbows · 30/11/2016 15:51

No. Plastic cheese is for burgers only. Omelettes need nice strong cheddar and sautéed potatoes. It's the law Wink

user1478260362 · 30/11/2016 15:57

YABVU! Revolting!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/11/2016 16:02

This thread reminds me that when I was a student, back in the Jurassic age when microwaves were exotic and rarely seen outside catering establishments, the student union caff served omelettes that they bought ready made in huge catering packs. If somebody ordered one (which I bet didn't often happen more than once) they reheated it in the microwave. Shock They looked utterly vile. Plastic cheese would have been the least of your worries with one of those monstrosities, OP!

BitOutOfPractice · 30/11/2016 16:04

Plastic cheese is for burgers only and for eating standing up in front of the fridge straight from the packet

chocolateworshipper · 30/11/2016 16:04

Omelette on toast? No, no, no - there's a law against it I'm afraid.
Chips are acceptable

BorpBorpBorp · 30/11/2016 16:10

If you've got oven chips, have fried egg and chips.
