So internet dating - I'm messaging with a new guy (about third or fourth message) and ask what he likes to do in his leisure time. His response "I play with myself a lot. It's good exercise". This is from a man who described himself as shy so a little unexpected to say the least. I'm a bit gobsmacked so I reply "?? Have I misunderstood?" to which he responds "It's good for you". It's not the playing with himself I'm opposed to, everyone does it. It's not usually something you share in early conversation with someone you're getting to know though is it? Would you be put off talking with him or AIBU? Confused

Yanbu, that would put me off that early on! You barely know each other!

JustSpeakSense · 16/11/2016 18:36

This would put me off. He is online to meet women to shag nothing else. It's creepy and disrespectful, I'd end contact with immediate effect.

Bagina · 16/11/2016 18:37

Obviously.

thecatsarecrazy · 16/11/2016 18:37

Quickly move on. Next it will be dick pictures blugh

Sugarlightly · 16/11/2016 18:39

Would put me off - but if it bothers you then maybe internet dating isn't for you, that's tame by most standards

Run away quickly

WLF46 · 16/11/2016 18:40

He seems a bit odd, unless it's some kind of joke. Perhaps that's his sense of humour. It's better to be who you are when trying to meet someone new. Saves on disappointment later on when they let their guard down.

Someone I used to know (not friend) swore by the maxim "always tell a rape joke on a first date". Not to offend his date, but to see whether they stuck around for the second date or got the hell out. (I suspect the latter more than the former, but nobody could deny he was hiding his true sense of humour. He was a nice guy actually, just had a dark sense of humour. It must have worked anyway because he got married a few years ago.)

But anyway, trust your instincts, whatever they are.

ByeByeLilSebastian · 16/11/2016 18:42

Urgh. I wouldn't even reply.

PortiaCastis · 16/11/2016 18:44

Yep next it'll be a dick pic but it won't be his, it'll be something downloaded from a porn site. Should you get one send it back with the message
If that's the best you can do I'm not interested

Disabrie22 · 16/11/2016 18:44

Yep don't reply

TheWitTank · 16/11/2016 18:47

Yuck. Would definitely put me right off. Its leading up to a dick pic, I agree with pp.

pipsqueak25 · 16/11/2016 19:15

gross, but he's probably a bit socially awkward [benefit of the doubt] but....i'd get out quick tbh.

Mummyme1987 · 16/11/2016 19:17

Yuk

Hellmouth · 16/11/2016 19:18

Move on, sounds like he's only after one thing imo!

Weneverworked · 16/11/2016 19:19

My reply would be 'bye'

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 16/11/2016 19:20

Immature idiot.

BreatheDeep · 16/11/2016 19:24

Expect he'll ask for pics to help his 'hobby' soon. Ick.

Ugh. He clearly thinks it sounds cool and edgy. Are you sure he isn't a sixth former? I'd move on and keep looking.

PilkoPumpPants · 16/11/2016 20:11

That's so so strange.

formerbabe · 16/11/2016 20:25

It's either really creepy

Or

He's trying really hard to be funny

Losingtheplod · 16/11/2016 20:27

He's just told you he's a wanker. I'd listen to him.

mumonashoestring · 16/11/2016 20:29

He's just after a cyberwank - delete and move on
