Partner wants to throw the baby's doll away

My three month old son has a little doll that his nana bought for him a couple of days ago. My partner has just told me he's going to throw it away 'because he doesn't like it.'

I told him that he's being childish and that I'm upset with his attitude. Who is being unreasonable?

Why doesn't your partner like it?

NapQueen · 09/09/2016 14:15

[Rolls eyes] do you even need to ask?

CJCreggsGoldfish · 09/09/2016 14:16

He's being a dick. What's his issue with the doll (I can probably hazard a good guess).

WellErrr · 09/09/2016 14:17

It doesn't matter whether he likes it or not - it's not his doll.

Freezingwinter · 09/09/2016 14:18

Why does your partner care? I'd be enraged if my H wanted to throw away a toy of my sons because HE didn't like it. Surely a good dad doesn't care what his child plays with as long as his child is safe and happy?

idontlikealdi · 09/09/2016 14:19

What does he think will happen - he'll catch being gay? Ffs.

TrionicLettuce · 09/09/2016 14:19

Time to bring these out again I think.....

Let him do it, quickly. Those things are literally crawling with The Gay.

PatriciaHolm · 09/09/2016 14:20

Well, assuming it's not a little Chucky doll, then he is being unreasonable, obviously.

3 months is too young for a doll, of course he doesn't show any interest in it. It's a lovely gift to keep for when he's a bit older, he'll grow into it

Your partner is being a dick.

Is the problem that he thinks it's not for boys? He needs to get over himself!

Solasum · 09/09/2016 14:22

He is being ridiculous. Unless of course he feels it is unmanly to look after a 'child'. In which case I suggest you tell him to leave.

I bought my son a doll after he spent a whole weekend playing with one at a friend's house. I am quite proud he is so caring towards Baby.

AnnaMarlowe · 09/09/2016 14:22

Does your partner ever cuddle his son Mouse? Because there's no difference.

SquidgyRedBall · 09/09/2016 14:23

Unless it's a creepy doll with a creepy face he is being unreasonable. DN had a doll with a creepy face and it scared the life out of her. Poor thing!

Bananalanacake · 09/09/2016 14:23

I thought you were going to say he wants to throw it away cos it's old, manky, been nibbled by a dog which is OK if you then buy a new one. Are we thinking he wants to throw it away as you have a boy and DP thinks he shouldn't have a doll? I would react by going to a charity shop and buying the most girliest toys I can find just to see his reaction.

blinkowl · 09/09/2016 14:37

You should show your DP this ...

Oops I should have RTFT, TrionicLettuce hey?!

Love your other cartoon too.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 09/09/2016 14:40

He's being an almighty twat.

KatharinaRosalie · 09/09/2016 14:40

Why doesn't he like it? Is there something creepy about the particular doll?

Alachia · 09/09/2016 14:42

Is it a scary, creepy doll? My DH's nan bought a crawling doll. It looked evil. We put it in a cupboard in case she ever visited (she was very old, and lived on the other side of the country...but best be safe). It looked as if it would enjoy devouring your soul. It's lost now. Somewhere in the house....

If it's because he's a boy and it's a girl's toy he's ibu.

Bumpmadethemjump · 09/09/2016 14:44

Is the doll possessed and is causing chairs to stack themselves in the middle of the night? If not then your dp is an idiot and make sure he doesn't throw it out!!

CodyKing · 09/09/2016 14:47

school worker here - need this doll!

Kenduskeag · 09/09/2016 14:47

Ugh. What a shame he could only reveal himself as a homophobic tosser now instead of a year ago.

MyKingdomForBrie · 09/09/2016 14:51

Oh my god Alachia how can you sleep at night with that thing out there somewhere (probably living in the walls and watching you..)

RepentAtLeisure · 09/09/2016 14:56

If he throws it out, buy another one. That has a pink dress on. Scary...
