To think it should have been Jess?

I didn't watch Gilmore Girls first time around, but recently saw it on Netflix - and I'm hooked. While I kind of like the fact that Rory remained single at the end (independent and off to a fresh start), AIBU to think that Jess was 'the one' (and yes, I have an age-inappropriate crush on him).

Logan - entitled, spoiled, womanising little MF and Dean - HUGE potential to be future drunk husband who beats Rory up on a regular basis. Your thoughts......

^^yy, Paul Anka!

Lorelai was just so full of herself and in her own world. And in reality, being your child's best friend to such an extent would be really damaging.

Tristan was very pretty...

NoncommittalToSparkleMotion · 11/08/2016 13:51

Xpost!

I empathize a lot with Emily. It's scary.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 13:54

noncommittal. I have a soft spot for Emily too. I often thought Lorelei was a bit of a sod to her. I'm sort of glad Lorelei ended up with Luke, because he was the 'nicer' of the two, but my loins chose Christopher....

PaulAnkaTheDog. Have seen you on a few threads and smiled to myself.

OMG, Christopher...😍 you'd have to be blind not to!

pennygoodlife · 11/08/2016 13:56

I think it should have been logan -and like to think of Rory as taming him.
Love this idyllic life program

RepentAtLeisure · 11/08/2016 14:00

Sorry to drop a bucket of cold water on the thread but I was glad she didn't end up with Jess.

I only watched Gilmore Girls recently, but I hated Jess because Milo Ventimiglia is an arsehole. They were a couple in real life, and he was seen shoving her and calling her a cunt in public, so God knows what he was like in private.

Both Jess and Milo had anger issues, and both Rory and Alexis were wise to move on!

(All of Rory's boyfriends were crappy.)

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 14:00

If Rory picked Logan, she'd be a regular on here. 'My DH has gone on a lads' holiday to Aia Napa'; 'My DH has been messaging OW', 'I hate my in-laws'..... Except she would word it more thoughtfully...

It should have been Logan... they were such a great couple, balancing each other out as a PP said.
I never liked Jess. Dean I liked, but when I watched the series again recently not so much, a bit manipulative, and boring.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 14:03

repent. Bucket of cold water truly dropped. Am shamelessly off to Google. Whaaaat?! Oh well, there's still Christopher....

Jess was the most attractive but Logan was best suited to Rory. I liked that it ended with her being single and independent.
Dean was a twat. Hope he and Rory's boring best friend who's name I can't even remember are left out of new episodes.

PaulAnkaTheDog · 11/08/2016 14:09

repent after having a quick Google I'd say that statement is really unfair. Someone on gawker says they saw him shove her in a city they weren't even in at the time. Sounds made up and pretty damaging to his reputation.

wigglesrock · 11/08/2016 14:09

SienaSun - they're both back Grin

PaulAnkaTheDog · 11/08/2016 14:09

Both are in the new episodes Siena.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 14:12

paul couldn't find anything on Google, thanks for update because was thinking I might have to change my username!

None of them were any good. I love Gilmore Girls but it has terrible portrayals of relationships!

Dean started off sweet but quickly became clingy, whiny, entitled and controlling. Yeah, she did treat him like crap before they broke up. I could have put that down to them both being immature and it just being a typical high school thing which ran its course. Lindsay was written for the viewers to hate on. She was completely one dimensional. But even so, Dean was horrible to her. He should never have married her.

Jess was always playing games and never really acted like a good BF. Rory never seemed to know whether she was coming or going with him. He had potential later on, once he'd grown up a bit and lost the attitude. I really liked the scene when he was all "WTF are you doing?!" outside the restaurant. But I agree she shouldn't have got back together with him. It would have been nice if they ended up friends but recognised that their personalities weren't suited romantically.

Logan I never liked at all. I found him creepy and manipulative. I feel like everything he does is a red flag. He constantly makes Rory feel confused/wrongfooted and I think he was the one to cause her to cry the most times in the whole series, yet people think he's a great BF? Uh... I also thought his proposal was horribly manipulative, he knew she would feel on the spot, not only in front of all of those people, but in front of her grandparents who he likely knew would approve greatly (their life goal for her seems to be to marry her off to a nice rich young man, after all).

Nah. I didn't like any of them.

Noodlebrains · 11/08/2016 14:19

Dean has said he's only in one of the episodes because he's busy with Supernatural.

Jess has confirmed he's back for 2 episodes and he's come back to cause trouble!

Sookie isn't in it apparently.

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 11/08/2016 14:20

siena but who is Rory's best friend - Paris or Lane? While I think I would probably get along with Lane better, I do identify a lot a bit with Paris. And while Jess is gorgeous, Christopher likewise and Luke just 'nice'; I reckon the male character I'd get on with best is probably Kirk.....

Noodlebrains · 11/08/2016 14:21

People empathise with Emily??? After how she tried to break Luke and Loreli up?

PaulAnkaTheDog · 11/08/2016 14:24

*Sookie is confirmed as returning.

Cahu58 · 11/08/2016 14:25

Am so looking forward to this...

Noodlebrains · 11/08/2016 14:30

That's great PaulAnka. Last I read she wasn't and she's a big part of it!

SienaSun · 11/08/2016 14:32

I meant Lane. She was so dull. I never understood why they created storylines that revolved just around her and had nothing to do with Rory or Lorelei. I can't think of any other characters they did this for, apart from when Jess went to California, but I think that was to set up a spin off series that never happened.

SienaSun · 11/08/2016 14:34

I liked Paris. As a character, not as someone you'd want to know in real life, but that's true for all of them. except Jess, I'd be quite happy to know him Grin
