Summer does not mean men can remove their shirts in Tescos!

Went to Tescos. A family of 4 males walked past from ages maybe 6 up to 60 and all of them were topless and sweaty. Why is that acceptable all of a sudden to be effectively wearing beachwear while in a supermarket just cause it's hot? Would I be allowed to walk in bare chested or in a bikini?

One of them leant against the deli counter and left a sweat imprint from their chest.

I think indoors it's particularly bad. It's not about if they have a nice physique or not it's just not acceptable in places like the town centre or inside businesses surely?

AIBU to be really irritated by this?

Yanbu even if women were allowed to walk around bare chested there's a time and a place and that place is not tescos

I used to work in asda and you weren't allowed in with no top on, surely tesco should have the same policy.

Yes you could walk in a Bikini, nothing wrong with a bit of skin, do you complain about decency when women breast feed in public.

No they shouldn't. But there's cannot be laws for everything, especially the things that require decorum. Not everybody has it though.

People lean against the deli counters all the time and leave something of themselves behind; unwashed hands, sneezes etc (delightful thought to leave you with) but it's there to protect the food. So that's something!!

Ew there was on old man like that in the supermarket last week. He had a massive belly that had stretch marks and his shorts sat under his belly literally just covering his bits and no more. A shop is not the time and place to be topless.

But I am a dirty knee-rubbing old woman a la Kathy Burke and I'm rather afraid that I do allow exceptions to the rule in certain cases.

YANBU, why do some men feel that as soon as the temp goes above 20 degrees they should whip their top off in public? It's fine on the beach, just about acceptable in the park, but dear God never ever is it acceptable in a shop. Sweaty torsos in Tesco is just grim.

YANBU OP. Flesh on show turns my stomach. It just makes me feel hotter. And it creates a meat smell.

I can't stand seeing all these men in shorts either, It really is a personal bugbear of mine and probably totally unreasonable.
Shorts are for wearing to the beach or for playing sport not wandering around supermarkets.......Don't even get me started on the shirtless brigade............

YANBU It's really uncouth, especially in a place they sell food.

I do see the point about men going topless (even if they are in shape, it's a bit disconcerting to see men without tops at the shops).

But shorts? I wear shorts, I don't think that is inappropriate.

do not see the big deal on shorts. people should wear what they like.

for hygiene reasons however tops should be worn.

exception perhaps for small children given I'd rather see a half naked child than one over heated and screaming.

But, as someone mentioned up thread, you can't have laws for everything.

At the risk of being flamed, it does seem to be a certain type of person who does this.
They have probably never been taught that it's basic good manners not to wander round the shops with a sweaty, whiffy torso on display.
At the beach? Fine
Around a pool? Fine
In a Park? I can just about live with that.

Wandering around Tescos? Never.
