Just got my period back 10 months post partum. Found a pack of Always ultra from ages ago. Jackpot!

WHERE do Always get their reeking scent from?! Genuine question. This packet has sat in a cupboard for well over a year and I feel quite nauseous with the overwhelming stench of scent when I change my pads.

And who decides that a menstruating woman would love to smell like ancient air-freshener?!

I checked the packet and absolutely nowhere does it state that these abominations are scented.

Anyone up for organising a boycott?

use cloth pads or Kotex are unscented i agree they stink baby nappies are the same drenched in chemicals and sickly scents

YANBU. Why on earth do these companies think people want these products to be coated in some revolting smelling 'perfume'?

They aren't scented, they have odour neutralising pearls.

It's what women want you know! Research showed that odour control was top priority for menstruating women.

Or so Always said when I complained to them and sent them a link to the last thread on this.

I have stopped buying Always, not just because I dont want to smell like a minicab, but because of their shit reply to a MNetter who emailed them; 'Sorry you dont like our product! Lots of people said when surveyed that smelling fresh was important to them! heres a list of our products!'

I switched to Happy Shopper. They're brilliant, great price, as good as branded and always on special offer.

They are horrible. My colleague was using these last week and I could smell them. Who wants someone else being able to smell that they having a period?!

Odour control is probably a priority for dog owners. I had a greyhound come bounding over and stick its nose right up my crotch in a garden centre last week.

Most undignified.

Cats have more tact I find.

I started using cloth instead 3 years ago now and the best thing about it, apart from not having to peel stray sticky-back plastic off my tenderest bits, is not having to smell that noxious wreak ever again. Freedom!

Switching to cloth is the best form of boycott imo.

Always infinity, no stink and much better than the other type which are hideous.

Of two packs of pads I have in the bathroom right now, the no winged ones are scented and the winged ones are unscented. I would rather use the latter.

I switched to Naty. They're made of natural materials, eco-friendly and all that. Probably not scented. I never noticed anything, and they don't advertise anything like "smelling fresh".

Would help boycott Always if I wasn't already.

I began my own very quiet boycott of Always 2 months ago due to a reoccurring strong smelling discharge about 10 days after my period. I'd noticed that Always were increasingly perfumed and wondered about a connection. I switched to unperfumed natracare, and whilst it could be a coincidence, thankfully the smell has gone. When I thought about it (which I have to admit I haven't in the past, as I've just instinctively bought Always for the past 20 years!) it feels counterintuitive for sanitary towels to be so heavily perfumed.

So, definitely up to be involved in a boycott and you're definitely not being unreasonable.

Another cloth advocate here, no more uncomfortable, hot irritation bordering on thrush. Cool cotton or soft minkee wee notions are my favourites. I loved fluffy post from luxury moon. ,

Cloth all the way here. Goodbye "dri-weave topsheet with cotton-like feel" plastics, hello actual brushed cotton like your favourite pjs. Or bamboo, if that's your bag.

So those doing cloth, where do you buy them? or do you make your own? if so how, Im confused.

I've always used always or tampax, but tampax has gone all pearly and its like trying to stuff a well greased chicken up there - just not happening.
With always I get a rash and really itchy and now someone else has mentioned it above Im sure it's whatever chemicals in them. Never really thought about them being full of chemicals until I read this thread.

Main reason I went over to re-usables.

I buy non scented foam more expensive always. If live try re usable but hate wings with a passion and they all have wings! Guessing less annoying on getting stuck to pad scrunch but stil extra padding there!

I use a mooncup. Never looked back since trying it. It's amazing.

I stopped using always because their 'scent' irritated my fanjo and gave me thrush. I will never use their products again.

I now use pink Bodyform, they have no scent and work just fine.

I can't use tampons so imagine a moon cup would be similar. For some reason they make me feel really anxious . I get breathless and start panicking so have to take them out... Tis weird.

I had a reaction to always about five years ago. Came out in a massive painful rash. It was absolutely miserable. Haven't used them since, I use Morrisons own brand night time for the heavy days and bodyform for lighter days. No complaints.

Buddah I bought mine online from various sellers. (I say 'bought' in the past tense, because I stocked up three years ago and have not yet needed to replace any - they've proved to be a great investment and I'm sure I've saved a ton).

I like the minky ones best (from Wee Notions, for example), because they're very soft and comfortable and require zero effort to wash - just rinse them under cold water and bung them in with a normal wash. But cotton ones are great too, and have a wider range of pleasing designs. There are lots of sellers on Etsy and elsewhere.

I'm using cloth nappies, so maybe cloth wouldn't be such a leap! However, I have a lot of travel lined up for the next few months, so I might try the Naty ones.

A mooncup is something I'm open to (so to speak ), but I'll stick with what I know for the next couple of cycles and see how long/heavy etc they are.

I suspect male-led marketing, and possible collusion between manufacturers of thrush remedies and Always!

I've moved to Bodyform after issuing Always for as long as I can remember - they can stick their scented pads where the sun doesn't shine!

I've also swapped to Bodyform to avoid the stink. That and my trusted mooncup.
