AIBU to think that M&S have lots the plot?

Just looking on the sale website. Despite being a loyal fan to M&S over the years I really think that the range on offer would come second best to a sale rail in a charity shop (which I'm equally a fan of)!

It was never the height of fashion. Under wear, school uniform, a sensible bag, shoes and gym wear type shop.

It's still good for those, though. Well, maybe not so much the gym wear.

Oh, I thought you were going to put up a link to some hideous crimpolene pussycat bow jumpsuit which didn't even suit the scowling model but would make mere mortals like like shit on toast, with a cameltoe.

The Sale rail can sometimes hold bountiful bargains though, but mostly not. When you see 45 of the same sequin trousers or checked 1% wool jacket that would look better on a racehorse or a lumberjack, you have to question Why did the designers think this would work

And the Alexa Chung range....

And great food, obviously. Flowers are good. Toiletries good now...

I'm beginning to feel really defensive of M and S, not sure why as I don't have shares or owt just an irrational urge to defend them. Maybe its because of other big names going down the pan lately so no-one's safe and I'd be sad if it ended up the same way (plus I'd miss the foodhall) Or maybe its because the DailyFail seems to hate them and is always putting the boot in and they are just too gleeful in their frothing.

Yes, some of the fashion looks a bit to me but then I see people wearing it it's a pretty tough fashion market out there atm and it seems like they've been trying every different direction to survive, but they cant do primark cheap and stay ethical yet we don't want to pay higher prices.

Foodhalls spot on though, liking the new Spirit of Summer range - passionfruit eclairs hmmmm.

Limited stuff is nice - and I have found a few lovely holiday bits recently. Also my very best leather bag is an M+S one and I love it but YANBU OP a lot of the fashion is grim

Morrisons do way better flowers in my opinion - for less ££££

Yes M&S are good for Food, underwear and that's about it. Its a store your Mum or Nan would go to, not the height of fashion.

I was in M&S this morning buying school trousers for DS.

I did actually stroll through the womens' clothing thinking WTAF is this stuff. MC Hammer's trousers teamed with Kate Middleton lookalike nude pumps and some nasty nylon tops aren't what anyone needs in their wardrobe!

its great for underwear. their knickers would survive a nuclear accident. food's good too. but yeah, the clothing ranges are woegeous.

I went in for sportswear. I needed sportswear. I had money in my hot little hand. I looked at the sportswear and came away empty handed ...

The food is great. Homeware is full and overpriced. I like the kids clothes and the women's ware is looking better this season. I got some very nice tailored trousers from autograph range the other day.

Wear not ware! Duh!

I go in for school uniform but nothing else. I can't quite work out who their clothes are aimed at, and I don't think they can either!

Agree with ghosty was gobsmacked to be given a beautiful bouquet from Morrisons. I always thought of them as doing quite naff flowers, but they've hugely upped their game. Don't bother with M&S now

I've had one or two nice things from Indigo, but you have to have a bit of a hunt around. I have a couple of needlecord blouses that I wore a lot over winter, and I like the jeggings - they're cheap enough that you can buy them in a couple of colours but still reasonable quality. The knickers are very good too - just nice plain cotton! Per Una is a bit rubbish usually not for me though...

tights are robust - always get mi tights from there
food is lush
everything else is a bit shit
some shoes are occasionally nice

I bought a fab navy casual mac in M&S the other day. Joules style rip off with yellow stripy inside but way nicer than Joules - long line parka style with pockets and zips in all the right places.

I can't say it's cool but it is practical, excellent quality and ideal for my upcoming holiday and school drop off.

Nb. I am 5,2 so it comes to just above my knee which is better than how it looks on the model.

Whenever I go into my local clothes store it's just full of grey haired grannies looking at the clothes in most of the ranges.

I don't even go in anymore, they is literally just SO much stuff. Rails and rails of stuff, different ranges for different ages, the thought of going through it to find a nice piece just seems too much like hard work. There literally needs to be half the amount. I haven't got that kind of time.

Yes, I've largely gone off the women's clothing, although did get a nice jumper in the sale recently.

I like their kids clothes, and totally love them for the fact they've started a range of bodysuits for children with special needs.

Work clothes and handbags are ok. Jeans are great. Food hall is fantastic.

School uniform doesn't last as long as Asda's.
Boys clothes are awful
Shoes are like stuff my Nan would wear
The rest of the clothes are seriously outdated.

M and S need to up their game.
