Just looking on the sale website. Despite being a loyal fan to M&S over the years I really think that the range on offer would come second best to a sale rail in a charity shop (which I'm equally a fan of)!

Their food sells because they don't try and cater for everyone. It's time they bit the bullet and did the same with their clothes

Not impressed with M&S food. Nothing that you can't get in any regular supermarket.

Floisme · 30/04/2016 17:27

That may be true but the point is, it sells.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/04/2016 17:45

Absolutely, Flo. They should work on doing far few items, far better.

So, cut it down to:

a classic edit - plan trousers, cashmere jumpers and cardigans, silk t-shirts, jersey dresses
a workwear edit - a couple of really good suits with skirts and trousers, silk or cotton blouses
a casual edit - great jeans, t-shirts etc

Strictly food, flowers, school uniform and t shirt bras!

Definitely cut the range down!
I was told a few years ago that the per una range was based on Italian design. To me Italian women dress classically and I'm not sure that they'd be too enamoured with the M&S piece!

I am currently wearing some M and S trousers that I bought three years ago, bit a top I bought two years ago went baggy and misshapen and has had to go. I also have all my bras from there, but that's it. For someone who used to buy everything from M and S that's a pretty sad state of affairs.

Their menswear has been dire for years. Except in the very largest stores most of the advertised stuff wasn't stocked and recently the quality has nosedived. Really cheap and shoddy stuff. As for the food, it's OK but the portions are small. M&S "large" is Wait rose "medium".

Justkeepgoing - can you imagine the horror on an Italian woman's face if you showed her the horror that is the Per Una range and said it was Italian inspired.

Love the food. Love the flowers for a special occasion but happen to think that Lidls roses are much better value and last longer. Like the furniture and homeware even though it's over priced - DS bedroom furniture was bought as a gift and it is very lovely.
DH and I went in for lunch the other day and had a bit of a titter at the almost exclusively beige sale rails being swarmed over by the old dears.
Knickers of course have to be M&S, ones from Sainsbos just don't feel the same!
