To think prince Charles isn't that bad

The princes trust does good work. Yes he didn't treat Diana well but she also manipulated the media and they were an odd match from the start.

Take the other night, why did Charles not meet Obama? Or was this William picking a job he liked doing?? It looks to me like Charles is being sidelined, perhaps there are plans to bypass him in the line of succession. Or maybe the media are not bothered about him.

I kinda like him.. 😌

I quite like Charles too. I think that he just does things differently and the media find it hard to cope with or understand. I also think that he's probably more popular in the countryside than he is in the town.

When I see him on the telly I think he seems charming and pleasant.

Other than that I've never thought of him as 'bad'

To be fair to PC a lot of people were probably mates with Saville without knowing what he was up to.

As for is he 'that bad'? Personally i have no idea if he's good, bad or somewhere in the middle, but i know i'd like to see William be king before he's in his 60s, and sadly that isn't going to happen because Charles is going to want his go.

It's always worth pointing out, before these sorts of discussions start, that were Prince Charles to abdicate upon succeeding the crown would pass Prince Andrew, which is a place we don't want to be, and then upon his death Queen Beatrice. There is no way in which Prince Charles can be bypassed to Prince William without primary legislation.

The Queen could "step down" and appoint pretty well anyone as a regent, although it's hard to see how that wouldn't be Charles, but William's position in the order of succession depends (unless you want to consider the repealing of the Act of Settlement) on Charles the heir apparent.

I wasn't, but I knew what Saville was up to as I lived in a town where he had a house (Scarborough). Everyone there knew, yet none of us knew him.

How could a whole town of people know, yet his best mate didn't?

I agree he's cleverer than many would have you believe and tends to say today what the rest of the world says the day after tomorrow, at least on environmental matters. BTW what evidence is there that he was "best mates" with Saville?

I'm sure he's very nice. But I agree with Marina Hyde - this is how it is if you have a hereditary head of state, you get good ones and bad ones and your opinion is largely irrelevant.

Not quite true - people have occasionally been shoved off the throne in favour of someone else - but it's rather an upheaval.

If Diana Spencer had posted in "Relationships" here about the way Charles Windsor treated her and behaved in their marriage, he'd have been called out for what he is, an emotionally stunted man, borderline abusive.

He's personally immoral and has no right to ascend to be the "Defender of Faith" as his own personal life has been lived in such bad faith.

He wants to impose his views on government; and whether or not one agrees with any of those views, that is not what a titular monarch is supposed to do. For that reason alone he would qualify as a Prize Arsehole and dangerous meddler.

If you want to be part of the machinery of democratic government, chuck the title and stand for parliament like Tony Benn. If not, butt out. And stop writing spidery letters to politicians expecting them to take notice purely because of the accident of your birth.

Read the Dan Davies book about Saville"In plain sight". It documents his strong links to the Royal family. He was extremely close to both Charles and Philip. And in the interest of balance I thought Diana was a fuckwit too.

Hon would the crown pass to Prince Andrew I'd PC abdicated? It goes to the next in line, which is Prince William. King Edwards crown went to his brother because he had no children of his own.
