To think the 'Disrespect NoBody' ad campaign is horribly sexist?

Not sure if this has already been discussed but has anybody else seen the 'Disrespect NoBody' TV adverts that are supposedly raising awareness for healthy relationships and domestic violence?

Every single scenario in the advert is targeted at men abusing women whether it be physically or emotionally. Y'know because men are never victims?

So because I believe that men shouldn't be disregarded in DA cases that means I'm discussing this thread elsewhere. Or, now here's a novel thought, maybe I saw the advert this evening, Googled it because the first time I saw it thought hmm thats a little off but didn't get round to searching anything about it, and came across this thread and on the first page I read a post from someone trying to belittle the OP (I know that one) and also trying to belittle the people who agreed with them at which point I joined in, because that offended me, not because I don't campaign for women's rights but because to stop the belittling of their gender is the reason that women fight for gender equality. Yeah that's right equality, a world in which the views of one gender don't take precedent over another, which means that in that bid to be equal you cannot raise your voice over men because then you're not equal, you're louder and you're better which funnily enough isn't the point. I didn't realise that mumsnet was an online forum where people came to be anonymously abused by people who don't share the same views, obviously I was mistaken. I'm not entirely sure why you are so offended by the fact that a woman can believe that men shouldn't be disregarded as victims of DA or why for some reason you think that I'd be discussing this elsewhere.

RitaVinTease · 05/03/2016 01:32

No one is saying men are not victims of DA.
Sadly you just dont get that.

There have to be 2 people in the ad.

You are sauing that men cannot learn from the example of a person being abused by another person. They have to see a man being abused by a woman.

How mature kua.

I'm not saying that anyone is saying that but sadly you just don't get that. Go to the first page. Read the comments about hating "what about men" whingers. That's what my issue was with. I didn't even initially say anything at all to do with the advert. I'm not saying that at all but yeah now we're on it why don't they get to see that? Why shouldn't they be represented in a way that isn't gender neutral. Why couldn't the first part have been a mans voice saying it's not okay if his girlfriend checks his phone or tells him who he can and cannot speak to. It's not a case of them learning anything it's a case of campaigns like this being a fair representation of the issue

LuisCarol · 05/03/2016 01:42

There is a movement of so called feminist (if only they understood what it is meant to stand for- that’s equality).

Damn these so called feminists and their not understanding what they stand for. Damn them. If only they could see what they really stand for, there would be no need for them.

RitaVinTease · 05/03/2016 01:43

The campaign is a fair representation of the issue when 2 women are being murdered every week by partners or exes.
Its just that men cannot see themselves in the female actors place and are offended by being represented by a woman.

Thats the worst thing you can call a man after all.

LuisCarol · 05/03/2016 01:49

Why shouldn't they be represented in a way that isn't gender neutral.

This is an odd double negative that I am struggling to parse. Taking out the double negative... Why should (men) be represented in a way that is gender neutral?

I agree! Why should we?

letsbefair · 05/03/2016 02:02

LuisCarol they know what they stand for, (I Hope) my point is they are hijacking a noble movement. Feminism has done a lot of good in past and any fair minded person believes in equality of opportunity.
My understanding is there is 3 waves of feminism.
The first wave looks for equal votes.
The second wave looked for equal opportunity, including equal opportunity in the work place.
The third wave is looking equal of results.
I have a problem with third wave feminism as I don’t believe in equality of results.
If you have a 100 men with equal opportunities in life they will end up in very different places. This is because some will go to college, but study different subjects. Some will do trades and some will do nether. They will all have different work ethics and fundamentally they will all have different potentials. For example we can’t all be Olympian 100 meter runners. Well we can but we can’t all win.
If I am wrong please correct me.

LuisCarol · 05/03/2016 02:13

If you have a 100 men

and 100 women...

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/03/2016 02:16

If you ever want an entertaining half hour, Google some stats on women and men in groups in meetings and how silent women have to be. It's hilarious fucking awful.

letsbefair · 05/03/2016 02:27

"If you have a 100 men
and 100 women..."

Lol I am making the point that we are all different. It is not a man v woman thing. We all have differences and we should work very hard to make sure that everyone should reach their potential. It is too easy to put people into boxes and say only this box of people can contribute. We all have something to add to society. If we give everyone the opportunity to be there best we are all better off.

OhShutUpThomas · 05/03/2016 07:12

Men face this evil just as much as women

Not they don't. Fact.

sure I'm not a gentle and what the heck is an MRA??

Now, if you'd RTFT you'd know by now that we're not fucking stupid Hmm

No I don't but that was quite possibly the rudest comment I've read on this thread. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Ha! Proof that you haven't actually read the thread then.
Was it ruder than this, from some of your predecessors?

Well done on being a bunch of cunts. Modern women are uncaring pieces of shit who don't give a fuck about men. Fuck the lot of you.

Thanks for proving that modern women are spoils entitled feminist infested fucktards.

This was some MRAs trying to demonstrate that men are actually not abusive to women - it's all in our heads, you see.
There's LOADS more like that, and women have to deal with this shit every fucking day.

For the last FUCKING time...

Nah, I'm not going to bother. It's all in the thread. All you nocturnals who've been ordered here to tell us wimmin' what's what - try actually reading it, and reading the correct statistics, before bustling in and accusing us all of being men hating harridans.

WHY do they all come out at night??
Why don't they have jobs in the day and sleep at night??

Jasonandyawegunorts · 05/03/2016 07:16

WHY do they all come out at night?? Why don't they have jobs in the day and sleep at night??

Because it's early evening in America, where i suspect most are from.

OhShutUpThomas · 05/03/2016 07:29

Havent noticed any though American spelling Jason?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/03/2016 08:46

They're Americans - there may be the odd one from the UK, but they're all mini-Jeffs. From 4-chan or 8-chan or reddit. Jeff was American (apparently).

And they like to make out that men are the sex suffering from societal sex discrimination. Whether they actually believe this, or whether it's just an advanced level of putting down women, is unknown. They all quote the same stats, taken from a website called a voice for men, which is run by a man who says drunk women are just begging to be raped.

It's in their interest to claim gender parity in such issues as rape, abortion, DV, the justice system - because in heir heads women rule the world, and men are victims. "y chromosome victims".

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/03/2016 08:48

They give it away in small ways - saying things like 'lawsuit' - not used in the UK so much, and quoting figures for the US, linking to studies from the US, things like that - although I don't think they've linking stuff on this thread.

But do they actually seriously expect us to believe that they all came across this independently on google? Grin

Jeez, I just happened to be googling this dreadful, offensive to the man-sensibilities, advert that dared to be slightly aimed at women, and I came across this thread. So I joined up and posted an almost identical paragraph to the one all my friends posted that has already been posted by new posters with numbers in their NN, and whaddya know? The women noticed, and some of them even laughed at us.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 05/03/2016 08:52

UnderTheGreenwoodTree
Indeed.
You've hit the nail on the head.

eatingworms · 05/03/2016 08:54

Women laughing at men needs to be outlawed. It's absolutely disgusting how many women have been laughing at men just on this thread alone. Makes you realise the levels in real life must be disturbingly high, but I suspect much of it goes unreported for fear of being laughed at.

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/03/2016 09:04

You missed i just happened to be googling this series of adverts that i blatently havent even seen Grin

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/03/2016 09:06

Btw, a google search has brought up a private community called "mumsnet" on reddit - that'll be where they all are.
