To think the 'Disrespect NoBody' ad campaign is horribly sexist?

Not sure if this has already been discussed but has anybody else seen the 'Disrespect NoBody' TV adverts that are supposedly raising awareness for healthy relationships and domestic violence?

Every single scenario in the advert is targeted at men abusing women whether it be physically or emotionally. Y'know because men are never victims?

Also -

"Abuse in relationships can happen to anyone." (emphasis on anyone is mine but I think that point is clear and gender neutral.

x posted with Under.

But yes good point about the website being gender neutral in it's wording.

cbyers89 · 05/03/2016 00:52

I'm quite sure I'm not a gentle and what the heck is an MRA??

NewYearNewToads · 05/03/2016 00:52

So really, why are so many people offended by this campaign? Confused

It actually isn't focused on men as the perpetrators and women as the victims as so many people are claiming, it's actually very gender neutral, more so than I previously thought.

cbyers89 · 05/03/2016 00:53

Obviously I meant gent. Not gentle

ManPerson · 05/03/2016 00:53

Only saw the vast majority of pages that put men as the attackers. Didn't see any contact page to offer my views or tell of my experiences. Thanks for the links.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/03/2016 00:54

I'm quite sure I'm not a gentle and what the heck is an MRA??

You must think we were born yesterday Grin

NewYearNewToads · 05/03/2016 00:54

You didn't look very hard then, did you?

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/03/2016 00:58

They didn't look at all, I don't think, NewYear.

They got the bat signal, got their cyber-Superman costumes on and swept onto this thread Wink

cbyers89 · 05/03/2016 00:58

No I don't but that was quite possibly the rudest comment I've read on this thread. Give yourself a pat on the back.

UnderTheGreenwoodTree · 05/03/2016 01:01

Really? Ruder than this?:

Well done on being a bunch of cunts. Modern women are uncaring pieces of shit who don't give a fuck about men. Fuck the lot of you. Throw yourselves under a bus you utter cunts.

^Posted by an MRA earlier up the thread - and the one who probably lit up the bat signal.

ManPerson · 05/03/2016 01:01

I'd not thought about setting up a men's refuge as I've been happily married for the past 20 years and busy bringing up children. However your challenge to get off my arse has inspired me to donate money instead.

RitaVinTease · 05/03/2016 01:03

So now no one is ever allowed to offer women advice on staying safe because it offends men.
And all campaigns about safety now have to use two(?) gender neutral people, as men cannot deal if a man and a woman are used as the example.
Check, got that.

NewYearNewToads · 05/03/2016 01:04

I'd not thought about setting up a men's refuge as I've been happily married for the past 20 years and busy bringing up children.

As I'm sure plenty of women who helped set up women's refuges were.

Your point?

ManPerson · 05/03/2016 01:05

I didn't mean to come here to whinge by the way. Just went to the first place where those bloody ads were being discussed. Didn't mean to offend anyone. Thanks for the chat. I'm off to bed now.

cbyers89 · 05/03/2016 01:05

Obviously missed that one trying to find out where my statistics had been debunked. But regardless I asked a completely genuine question which by the way you still haven't answered and I'm still non the wiser as to what an MRA is, to which you were unnecessarily rude. So second rudest.

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/03/2016 01:05

That reminds me...

Women (mainly. Obviously NAW) donate money to charities for womens health and DA
Men (mainly. Obviously NAM) donate money to animal charities and overseas aid

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/03/2016 01:06

GIYF :)

cbyers89 · 05/03/2016 01:08

Is there a link somewhere that will explain all these acronyms to me.

kua · 05/03/2016 01:08

Manperson You can do both you know?

kua · 05/03/2016 01:11

cybers89 I'll share the link if you share yours where you are chatting about this thread.

cbyers89 · 05/03/2016 01:11

I actually just Googled GIYF 🙈

BeyondTellsEveryoneRealFacts · 05/03/2016 01:11

Initialisations. An acronym is when you create a 'word' out of the initials. :)

Alisvolatpropiis · 05/03/2016 01:15

cyber

MRA = men's rights activist.

But what does - YAMFC mean?

letsbefair · 05/03/2016 01:21

This whole argument is so sad. Fair minded people should be working together to make the world a better place. There are enough hateful and angry people in this world.
It is very simple in my mind, we have a choice: justice for all or in injustice for all.

There is a movement of so called feminist (if only they understood what it is meant to stand for- that’s equality). They want to punish children for the perceived sins of their fathers. An eye for an eye approach. No god fearing person would intensely punish a child for the wrong doing of others.
Sadly following an eye for an eye approach will only leave use all blind.

The real core of the problem is: Equality to feminist no longer means equality of opportunity it is equality of results. And to achieve these results equality of opportunity must be destroyed for men.
This will be achieved by quotas. There will be quotas for parliament and for any area that women do not make up at least 50% of the workforce.
This is not equality it is oppression.
As Milton Friedman once said: if we put equality of result before quality of opportunity we will have nether.
