Because it seems to be getting harder to buy the non-scented kind these days! But honestly, who thought it was a good idea to put something heavily perfumed so fanjo-adjacent? AIBU to think it was probably a man?

And yes, I know I should probably use a mooncup and reusable pads but I'm not quite there yet!

I got some lovely lemon and bergamot carefree liners from the pound shop. Think they are forrin!

Bergamot and lemon, eh? Who needs a cup of Earl Grey when you can be bergamot fresh!?

What happens if these chemicals are absorbed? Have companies tested the effects of that long term?

EBearhug · 24/02/2016 21:58

If you google, there's a fair few articles on the toxic effects of air-fresheners and the like, and the scented sanitary pads must be similar (though not necessarily to the lungs.)

Well quite.

I posted above the possible link between talc use and ovarian cancer, no direct link has been proved, but some link has been indicated across various studies. In one study particles of talc were found in samples of ovarian tumours. No-one knows how the hell they got there. I imagine they must have been drawn up the vagina somehow.

Don't want to be ew, but the moistness of vagina lips could potentially absorb substances as easily as your mouth. The chemicals obviously irritate enough to cause thrush in many women, who's to say they're not being absorbed too.
