Because it seems to be getting harder to buy the non-scented kind these days! But honestly, who thought it was a good idea to put something heavily perfumed so fanjo-adjacent? AIBU to think it was probably a man?

And yes, I know I should probably use a mooncup and reusable pads but I'm not quite there yet!

I really don't need to spend an extra half an hour scrutinising packets in that aisle to second guess if they are or aren't.

Silly women! It's not like they'll have anything useful to do with their time, so what doess an extra half hour in the "feminine hygiene" aisle matter?

True though - used to be able to just go down the aisle, grab a pack and go. Not these days.

DerelictDaughter · 18/02/2016 11:48

I really really want to see fly-on-the-wall footage of the product development and sales strategy meetings at Always. I hope it is a bunch of people sitting round talking about fanny-freshening accoutrements and then giggling childishly.

boredofusername · 18/02/2016 12:00

It would be really good to have a blog page set up somewhere that draws all the info on here together - ie which pads don't have fragrance, which ones are "lightly" fragranced and which ones to avoid with a bargepole as well as the recommended providers of reusable ones (although I think my flow is simply too heavy at times for those).

I use Always secure night for my heaviest days, and Bodyform otherwise. But I think Bodyform have now started adding fragrance too. There's nothing as big as Always secure night though so I have to use those despite the fragrance.

MummySparkle · 18/02/2016 12:13

honouryourflow do you fancy releasing a special mumsnet discount code just for us... Wink

boredofusername you'd be surprised at how absorbent CSP actually are. You can buy extra heavy and postpartum ones which are really absorbent and have great coverage. Period pants also exist

Sanchar · 18/02/2016 12:33

Honouryourflow is where I buy mine from! So glad it's getting a boost in business🎉🎉🎉

Who wouldn't want lovely soft cotton velour against their foof rather than a plasticky chemical mesh?!? Yeech👅

cleaty · 18/02/2016 12:57

I have just bought Always Night. I had no idea that they are scented :(

honouryourflow · 18/02/2016 12:57

A discount code seems like a good idea. I have just created a 10% discount for you with the code mumsnet. Enjoy Smile

mylot · 18/02/2016 13:24

Thing is. Despite a documented widespread revulsion to the ideology and actual stench, sales probably haven't noticeably dropped because vast amounts of women are buying what they are used to regardless, even if the smell is repugnant because they have been buying that packet since 15 and are reluctant to change what essentially isn't broken, just now stinks of eau-d' uncleanshame/car freshener. We still shop every month, where it is convenient without thinking because it was never an issue before.
Right Proctor and Gamble, mmm I think it probably is time I started to look round at alternatives like mooncup etc.

HemanOrSheRa · 18/02/2016 13:26

I'm glad I checked back to this thread before placing my order with honouryourflow! Got my 10% discount and hopefully no more itchy fanny for a week after my period has finished.

ChihuahuaChick · 18/02/2016 13:37

I put a couple of pairs of pants in with an express wash and found that after being washed with scented detergent and scented fabric conditioner and nuked in the tumble drier they still smelled of Always. Nothing else smelled of anything other than clean washing. That can't be good, right? They're the only pads stocked in the shop over the road so I've bought them a couple times in an emergency. As soon as I have non-communal laundry facilities I'm getting cloth pads as the mooncup didn't suit me.

MummySparkle · 18/02/2016 14:16

Woohoo!! Thanks honoryourflow Grin

Order placed! I was going to buy some more this week anyway as I haven't had enough this week. Perfect timing Smile

Bolshybookworm · 18/02/2016 14:22

This is where I buy my pads and tampons
www.spiritofnature.co.uk/category/for-mum/feminine-care/

Haven't bought sanitary care in the supermarkets in years.

LauraMipsum · 18/02/2016 14:33

Awesome thanks honouryourflow I've been dithering about buying more so I'm on my way to your site now!

On other topics, anybody else wondering why a man would want to open and read a thread about itchy fannies let alone contribute to it???

mylot · 18/02/2016 14:54

um. Head of global feminine hygiene at proctor and gamble?

OttiliaVonBCup · 18/02/2016 14:55

Because a Man Knows Better.

PatMullins · 18/02/2016 15:00

Orange Bodyform (no wings) are unscented, not sure if they've been mentioned yet.

Ambroxide · 18/02/2016 15:00

Oh no, bugger, just bought some pads from honouryourflow and had not read to end of thread before ordering. Damn. I would have liked that discount!! Maybe I can use it if I find I need more.

Lweji · 18/02/2016 15:05

Surely you could, ahem, cancel and repost the order?

Ambroxide · 18/02/2016 15:42

I probably could. However, it wasn't a v big order as I wanted to try a few different things so perhaps I will just use it next time!

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 18/02/2016 20:00

because we are all meant to feel thankful when a man contributes to a women's discussion they have show us the right way, given us their blessing and approval, dismissed our fears Hmm

amarmai · 18/02/2016 21:30

If we all open up the box in the store and then leave the ones that stink, the men who run the stores might stop stocking them as they will be losing money from the opened packs.

Excited101 · 18/02/2016 22:52

Disappointed to find that some of the pads I recently bought that's thought were scent free are in fact, not. Including some tampons... Sad

kvilebu · 18/02/2016 23:35

Glad other people feel the same way about these godawful stinking sanitary towels. Always suddenly changed the formula just as I bulk bought a load of them not realizing they were now "scented". Bloody things. Stunk the bathroom out and I could smell the damn things on me as I was wearing them and I am sure other people could too.
Yes, menstrual blood stinks but only if you don't change your protection enough and don't wash.
Why on earth would anyone want stinking scented sanitary towels? Hideous things.
There are a couple of varieties of Always without the stench but the labelling is not clear and so I now have to stand in the shop sniffing bloody packets to see which are the stinky ones and which aren't.
I dread the day when every damn variety from every brand stinks.
Absolutely disgusting.

jeremyisahunt · 18/02/2016 23:40

This thread is insulting!

The air freshener in my car smells lovely! Unlike those scented towels

mylot · 19/02/2016 08:42

I can't believe I only just worked out that the burning I get from my period by the end is probably not helped by the 'perfume'. I bought some hypoallergenic unbleached unscented ones from boots yesterday and feel much better about the world. Bit more expensive but not much. Am working up to getting honourmyflow ones...sod you Always with your fascist bid to teach the world to smell.
